For the horses — including that belonging to Chester County's Boyd Martin — on the Team USA eventing team, the journey to France for the was — quite literally — a four-legged journey.
Like humans, horses have passport controls to check that they are the right horse. Paperwork, such as vaccines and blood tests, is also checked for each horse.

“Sveglia alle cinque e mezzo, monto due o tre cavalli, cucino, pranzo, e poi lavoriamo con gli allevamenti. La tv non mi manca, ho avuto tutto ciò che si poteva desiderare e ho lasciato quando potevo uscire dalla porta principale e c’era una qualità che non si è più vista in tv. Dopo, ho visto troppi programmi spietati verso personaggi di peso messi in situazioni imbarazzanti. Ho rifiutato tutti i reality, non c’è cifra che potrebbe convincermi. In fondo, la cosa intelligente che ha salvato gli animali dall’estinzione è l’evoluzione.”
