While free-ranging poultry may enjoy foraging for tasty morsels, it's crucial to note that they won't thrive, breed, or lay successfully on this diet alone. An unbalanced diet can lead to stunted growth, poor feathering, and reduced egg production.

Chickens require a balanced feed that includes sources of quality protein to fuel growth, feathers, and egg production, and this must be supplied in the form of a complimentary feed suitable for the age of the birds.

In addition, laying hens need more calcium in their diet to produce strong eggshells. Calcium is a vital nutrient for egg production, as it helps in the formation of eggshells. To aid the bird's digestion, a high-quality layer feed such as Smallholder Range Natural Free Range Layers Pellets should be provided ad hoc, along with grit.

While treats such as mixed corn can be a delightful addition to a chicken's diet, it's important to remember that they should be fed sparingly and as late in the afternoon as possible. Due to environmental issues, coupled with equipment supply problems, the following feeds with batch dates in April may take longer to soak.

Feeds: Fast Fibre, Veteran Light & Care & Gain

Rest assured, the formulas are unchanged and provide the same excellent nutrition, therefore the feed can be fed as long as all pellets are thoroughly soaked.

please soak until all pellets are fully dissolved and a mash is formed, we suggest making your evening feed in the morning and vice versa.

• Keep feed fresh – always use open feed before decanting new feed into feed bins.
• Try a highly palatable feed containing natural herbs.
