Please be alert for scam pages and groups pretending to have stock of mudcontrol slabs in the U.K.
We are the only licensed importer and distributor here.

When we advertise second hand slabs, we do not take any payment from the seller or the buyer, this is a totally free service to help our customers get the slabs advertised to as many prospective buyers as possible. They usually sell very quickly for £7.50-£8 per slab, used, lifted ready to go.

The group MUDCONTROL - Group for SHARED PALLET Deliveries (UK) is ours and is totally legitimate. This is a good place to find second hand slabs too, as some customers prefer to advertise them themselves in there.
And "INB System - Mudcontrol“- customer projects & customer experiences is totally legitimate!

The three groups we have mentioned are all associated with 5 linked profiles on Facebook who all appear to be based in the U.S. but are attempting to sell second hand slabs in the U.K. They have tried to get admin rights to one our our groups, presumably to get customer data. As a note, never pay for used slabs before you collect, and ask for photo evidence if possible. If you think that it's suspicious please contact us and we'll do our best to help.

This new page is another one we are rather suspicious about.
Please don't risk getting conned out of your money.

We're trying to keep track of these but they keep blocking our profiles so it's tricky. They are also using our and our customers' photos, which muddies the waters.

Mudcontrol is the only licensed UK importer and distributor of genuine MUDCONTROL slabs.
We advertise our customers' used slabs on this page (at no charge of course) if they become available.
Please be VERY careful about anyone else claiming to be selling mudcontrol slabs in the UK, especially new slabs.
These two pages (below) are NOTHING to do with us and are based in the USA.
Please be very careful about accepting messages from people from these groups. Don't get scammed out of your hard-earned money.

We're redoing some parts of our MUDCONTROL slabs area here at MCHQ to make it better for next winter. These slabs have down for a few years, and are shown being lifted, before being relaid later today as part of the new track you can see behind me.
I'm using a ragfork, with a fence post as a fulcrum, to help lift the leading edge of the slabs, to break the seal of the clay mud under them. A pallet splitter is another good tool for lifting the slabs.
Then it's a case of pulling them apart from each other, and bashing them together or dropping them on the ground to get the mud plugs to drop out (as they are seriously heavy when filled with mud) before reusing them elsewhere.

Don't forget that our slabs are the ideal solution for grasscontrol as well as mudcontrol. With warmer weather coming and the grass flourishing, these are the answer to turnout if you have equines who need a really restricted diet for the sake of their health.

Through all the wet and horrendous weather the mats stood firm as a hard standing and gateway support. On the subject of second hand slabs, here is a testimonial from someone we advertised some for on here recently:

"I highly recommend mud control mats. We have had ours down for many years and have literally been a game changer they are fantastic. I have recently had to retire from horse ownership and the service from team mud control in helping to sell on was amazing. Not only that my used mud mats sold very quickly with lots of interest. This customer paid an average of £7.94 per slab including VAT and delivery, over two orders from us in 2020 and 2021, and sold her slabs for £7.50 per slab. So she used them for 3-4 years and lost 44p per slab... not a bad investment!

We don't charge for advertising second hand slabs on here, of course, and we don't keep a list of who might want them (too complicated, as we never know when or where they might become available).

If you have purchased slabs second hand please have a good look at the Installation Instructions at www.mudcontrol.co.uk/installation as there are a few rules governed by inescapable physics which are worth knowing before you start laying the slabs. There's a Quick Installation Tips version (pale orange background) at the top of the Installation Instructions now for those who don't want to read the whole lot. There are also photos spread throughout which should make a few of the points much quicker to grasp.

A reminder of why we very strongly recommend a topping layer on the Mudcontrol slabs. They are incredibly durable and strong (that's why they are warrantied for 20 years) and for animal use the topping layer (sand, woodchip, bedding etc) is very important.

URGENT NEWS FOR LIVESTOCK FARMERS - it is our understanding that Mudcontrol slabs qualify for the FETF Animal Health and Welfare Grant FETF273SH, namely “protective matting for range or pasture”.

This grant is available if you farm any of the following:

• beef cattle
• dairy cattle
• sheep
• pigs
• laying chickens (including rearing and breeding farms)
• broiler chickens (including rearing and breeding farms)

The Animal health and welfare items and specifications – Farming Equipment and Technology Fund (FETF) 2024 applications are open until midnight 1st May.

It's been an absolutely horrendous winter for those of us looking after animals in the U.K. Absolutely relentless rain, everywhere is totally saturated (a year ago most of us had pretty dry fields, not this year, they are still like a swamp.)
