About me
The last 10 years I have been serving the local area of Plymouth and Devon in the care and welfare of domestic and exotic animals, working for private collections, local businesses and wildlife charities, which I continue to support and further promote. Incorporating the care of family owned, pet shop, stable, zoo, falconry and wildlife rescue collections on top of my own menagerie of animals, which I was encouraged with from a young age. Following my passion, established by work experience with animals from 8 years old, I graduated from full time education with a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Animal Management, receiving high distinctions, which I studied at Paignton Zoo, giving me confidence and qualifying me in caring for many species, taxa and breeds. I also have high distinctions in a Level 3 Continuing Professional Development courses in Pet Sitting and Dog Walking and accredited Canine First Aid.
Once I left College, I started looking for work and ended up working in retail and as a lifeguard on part time basics, longing to be around more animals again I started caring for friends and families pets and working for a couple national pet care agencies around my employed work as a hobby, type job. With my menagerie of pets, I myself looked for a trustworthy, knowledgeable and confident pet carer while I was away and after trying several pet carers I still didn’t find one seem to tick all the boxes and provide a service to the same standard as mine. It than became apparent that I could establish my own company due to the agencies also having their limitations for me and my clients, while knowing I could bring a quality service to the pet community which seem to be lacking in the area (especially with more unusual pets). Therefore, with the support and now the endorsement of the Prince’s Trust, I went through 6-month business training and establishment, officially trading independently since Autumn 2016; becoming one of the youngest professionals in the country at the time. I am pleased to say I could leave my employment to become self-employed on a full-term basis so I could increase my reliability. I now run the fully registered alongside my close family and work in association with other local professionals within the industry. Summer 2019, I also won the Prince’s Trust South West Regional Enterprise Award.
