I often get requests for pet sitting in July and August when it usually rains 😬

There might be a correlation or maybe just my luck 😉🍀😂

No wonder I'm constantly needing new wellies and waterproofs 🤦☔

Do you have a dog that weighs over 25kg? If yes, they could be potential candidates to donate blood!

❗️ Blood stocks are low

Lifesavers are urgently needed for our remaining June sessions!

With the weather turning lovely and sunny, we’ve noticed a significant drop in people coming along to recent donation sessions and our blood stocks for both positive and negative are critically low as a result.

If you can bring your dog to donate over the next few weeks, please book an appointment via our app or by calling 01509 232 222.

As the holiday season is just starting to get underway, please remember that demand for blood remains high despite it being summer. We need our lifesavers more than ever to ensure we continue to have blood available for any dog that might need it 🙏☀

To be a donor, your dog needs to be:

🐶 Fit and healthy
🐶 Confident and enjoy meeting new people
🐶 Between one and eight years old
🐶 Weigh more than 25kg
🐶 Have never travelled abroad

Please share this post to help us spread the word to as many people as possible.

Thank you so much ❤

Almost true, but I would swap WORK and PEOPLE, as I need work to be able to look after my dogs 😁

Apologies for the lack of updates lately!

I lost my father in September and since then I have found life a little bit of a challenge so have taken a step-back over the Winter. However, on discovering that the village of Ystalyfera has a revamped dog-friendly cafe I have been able to "get out more" and start feeling more positive again.

Kay and Phil have been so welcoming to me and my dogs, and foster dogs from West Wales Poundies. Only another 3 of my own dogs yet to visit!

I may need to review my pricing due to general rising living costs and an increase in my professional pet service insurance costs which I renewed today!

I am also embarking on upgrading my Certified Canicross Coach to Qualified Canicross Coach which means a lot of study time, therefore I have limited availability for new dog walking slots! Please send me a message if you have any enquiries about dog walking, pet visits, pet sitting, or starting out with canicross.

Hi!

I am a bit social media (when it comes to buisness page) averse so probably don't post as much as I should here.

I just wanted to make people aware that due to a personal family matter I will be taking a short break from dog walking, pet sitting and canicross coaching for a week in the first instance.

I hope I will be back soon!!!

The joys of signed public footpaths... Then landowners put stock in where the path exists. They may well be friendly horses, but the dog I am walking may not understand that. So sorry girl, this isn't the day we get to try this circular route I have had in mind for awhile 🤬

I have been monitoring the weather forecast carefully for weeks now but the weather predicted for Sunday to Tuesday is very extreme! No cooling down much even at night. I would highly recommend that your dogs only have brief early or very late "toilet walks" and then let them rest indoors in a cool room. Provide plenty of water, prepare some puzzles, maybe make some doggy ice cream, frozen lickimats or kongs. I doubt us humans will fair too well with the heat either, I know I won't!

With temperatures soaring this week, here's a reminder on how to keep your dogs safe and happy in the warm weather 🌞💛👉

101 Things that annoy an adventure dog walker...

1. Finding a newly cleared path that isn't on the OS Map but has been clearly labelled as a path come to an abrupt end thanks to electric fencing. 🤬

*Update* we managed to get safely under but would have been nice of the grazier to put a note on it to say it's "safe".

Its important to monitor your pets in this warm weather for Fly strike, fly eggs and maggots, especially if the animal has any injuries, sores, dirty bottoms etc

Symptoms of flystrike include: Maggots in the fur/under the skin.
Open wounds or sores containing fly eggs or maggots.
A bad smell

This is a recent case from work on an old Cat

Availability for Adventure DogWalks
*Tuesday afternoon
*Wednesday morning and afternoon.

Adventure walks are 2-3hr long, either a morning or an afternoon session. No one week will be the exact same walk so that your dogs senses are fully engaged and enriched. There will be walking, trotting, sniffing, practice of basic commands. They are predominantly on-lead walks in harness (non-restrictive type) but once a good relationship has been established, and with owner consent, were locations allow, your dog can have some off lead time. During the warmer months, the walks will be always near water sources, in shaded forests or woodlands, with open exposed areas kept to a minimum. I always carry a full pack containing first aid kit, water for the dogs, treats, poo bags, fully charged mobile, a map and compass, emergency bivy bag.
PRICES
£30 for solo (if your dog is reactive to other dogs this is the safest option)
£20 for a 'pack walk' (max 3 small dogs or 2 medium dogs)
£35 for a solo large dog
£5 for an additional dog from the same household

Today I headed to Cothi Bridge showground for the West Wales Poundies (WWP) Barkfest Dogshow!

Was lovely to see so many dogs and talk to people about canicross. A few went away with my buisness card and Canicross Coach flyer so I hope they will be getting in touch soon to start their canicross journey! 🤞

Hank the patterdale who came into the care of WWP last Summer and came to me as a foster... is my "even rescue dogs can canicross" advocate, enjoyed helping me too.

Last week, I suddenly realised I had better start prepping my dogs for fireworks AGAIN. I won't be participating in any Jubilee celebrations as I will be away with my pack at a Canicross event (last one of the season) so hadn't thought much about the implications of the 4day weekend. I hope we will be far away from any fireworks otherwise our weekend will be spoilt and my canicross dog be too petrified and traumatised to run her best race! 😔

Canicross is running attached to a dog!

While it is possible to start with basic equipment such as a waist jogging belt and a non-restrictive basic harness, a much safer and sensible way to give canicross a go is to book a 1-2-1 fitting and intro session with me, your local certified Canicross Coach.

I cover a large area in South Wales so will always try to find a suitable location for both you, your dog and myself.

If you don't want to run yourself, but think your dog would benefit from this (e.g. highly active breed, unable to be left off lead, nervous, excitable, pulls too much on lead) I also offer half hour/hour canicross sessions instead of a walk session.

For further information, to discuss your needs or to book a session please send me a message, email or call/text.

In January I decided to take the plunge and take steps to expand my services to offer Canicross Coach-ing.

I absolutely love running with my dogs. I started canicross in 2015 alongside solo-running. When I realised canicross existed, it made sense to run with the dogs rather than try to walk them and find time to run. I have helped introduce many people and their dogs to the sport but always felt inadequate to "teach". In the last year, I have had the pleasure of giving rescue dogs a chance to canicross too.

I am now a certified Canicross Coach , working towards Leader in Running Fitness qualification, will be refreshing First Aid for Dogs and my insurance to cover teaching canicross.

I look forward to offer help with kit choice, 1-2-1 sessions, small groups covering skills for beginners to intermediates, non-runners to experienced runners wanting to start canicross.

Please send a message to register your interest in this new service provided by DogWalker Davies! 😁

It's amazing how many paths I haven't walked in my local area. In 6months of taking out Tommy with the DogWalker Davies Team never have I taken him on the exact same run/walk! And there is still more exploring to do!

An adventure walk/run is a minimum 1.5hours upto 3hours depending on the weather and the dogs fitness levels. Ideal for very active dogs when you are short on time to give your dog a nice long weekly walk or run! Your dog will love exploring new places and should be content to sleep for hours afterwards.
