One Bun At A Time - Registered Charity No: 1191439 One Bun At A Time Reg Charity. We help at risk pet rabbits in England get to safety, We don't rehome One Bun At A Time is a Registered Charity No; 1191439.

One Bun At A Time has been set up to help at risk pet rabbits get to safety via a network of excellent Rescues and Transporters. By 'at risk' we mean, strays, dumped bunnies, those that look to be neglected, ill and/or living in unsuitable conditions. The welfare of the rabbits is our priority. We also help with the removal of rabbits from meat farms, breeders and hoarders. These bunnies often nee

d veterinary treatment as well as the usual vaccinations and neutering/spaying. We make donations to the Rescues who take buns from us, so any funds we raise go towards the care of these bunnies, plus any bunnies with ongoing health issues we have in Sanctuaries, these are funded by One Bun for the rest of their lives. We are a multi-skilled team, we are all rescuers, with very good knowledge of the rabbit rescue world. We are members of the Rabbit Welfare Association. PLEASE NOTE - WE DO NOT RE-HOME

To round up here are 2 rescue rabbits fromOne Bun At A Time - Registered Charity No: 1191439 🐰🐰🐰
Someone who works very closely with the charity, has written a little something on rabbits which we thought we would share:
"Did you know rabbits are classified as exotics? This means they require specialised care. Unfortunately, buying a bunny from a pet shop is so easy that consequently after a while, behaviour and health problems can manifest.
Bunnies are a prey species and generally do not like to be picked up and cuddled, this can be one of the main causes for rabbits to be surrendered into a rescue centre. There are over 67,000 rabbits in rescue centres across the UK and a vast proportion of these have been impulse purchases.
If you have done your research and wold still like a bunny then a reputable rescue centre is the best option as the bunny will have been health checked, vaccinated, neutered and temperament assessed."

Our darling Robyn. Just over 1 year old now. She is a delight but something is missing in her life in the shape of Baby Ben 💔 We are ever hopeful that another splay or disabled boy will come her way to complete her again. We both miss Ben terribly as does Ben's other wife Elise.

Say a little hello to our teeny disabled Minty! First day of a bit of fresh air! Minty has 3 disabled legs🥲 one forearm points backwards and his hindlegs cross over themselves. If this wasn't enough he also has a rotated pelvis! He must be 4 to 5 yrs old now. He's not very mobile sadly but he's a happy kid in his wee padded pen. X rays show that all Mintys leg bones are completely different lengths, no uniformity at all.

Here is a little update for our on whats been happening on One Bun.

We have a lot of special needs rabbits still under the One Bun umbrella and we are concentrating on their welfare and giving them the best lives possible, some are very hands on.
(We also have our own bunnies to care for, which are nothing to do with One Bun).

We have had some heartache lately, most recently with brave Hatter and Pippy, it really takes its toll, as all Rescuers know only too well.

This year we have relocated to trusted Rescues - The Small Pet Rescue bunnies and lots of birds as the lovely Liz very sadly passed away unexpectedly. We have also helped with a RSPCA case, surrenders to our vets and local strays. Always something going on behind the scenes!

However, a couple of the Trustees have some health issues plus the pressures of work, this sadly means we will have to prioritize those we are asked to help, i.e : very real 'at risk' cases and only if we can move them pretty much straight away to Rescues who meet RWAF standards, as we are unable to keep them long term. Also we will consider any special needs bunnies that need ongoing care, if we have spare spaces.

We will keep you updated with our 'specials' and also share our rescue friends fundraising / rehoming posts to try to help them boost their funds and find forever homes for buns in their care that are awaiting places, we will also try to help out in any other ways if we can.

We are having a stall at The National Rabbit Festival in October, introducing some of the One Bun team, giving advice and showing just what Rescues are having to cope with day in day out, we will also have a few lovely bunny themed items on sale for the humans to add to our funds to go towards vet fees for the One Bun special needs buns. We look forward to seeing some of you there 🙂

In the meantime, our huge thanks go to all of you for your ongoing support and all the help you've given One Bun, without you we couldn't have rescued nearly 1000 rabbits over the past 5 years.
Thank you 🐰🐇 xx and from little Hatts and Delly :)

Interesting information from Hay Box regarding the feeding of Rye grass. As a rule only Timothy and Meadow hays should be fed to buns, Timothy being the lowest calcium which is ideal. We feed treat hays alongside their staple of Timothy which includes Oat hay and Orchard Hay. Alfalfa Hay is high in calcium so suitable for youngsters or elderly buns who need to gain weight but only for the short term.

A question that is becoming more and more frequent is whether we sell ryegrass? The simple answer to this is no, but it's important to know the many reasons behind this decision and the potential complications of feeding ryegrass.

Good luck everyone. Message me after the draw tonight if your number comes out as the bonus ball to discuss your engraving.
If any of you who miss out this time want any engravings you are welcome to get in touch. This isn't my business I just do it to raise money for the buns at my little home sanctuary and to help out other rabbit rescues so all money goes to buns in some way.

ALL NUMBERS NOW SOLD, THANK YOU. THE BONUS BALL THIS EVENING (4 MAY 24) WILL DETERMINE THE WINNER. KEEP A WATCH OUT FOR THE LOTTERY :) XX
We still have some numbers available in the raffle in which you could win an engraving of your choice courtesy of Bob Sell. We had to make the very sad, heart breaking decision to have Hatter pts. 😭😭
He was one of the bravest bunnies we have ever known.

He was rescued in Sept 2020 , in short, when he was neutered a bony lump was found on the left side of his jaw, at that stage there was nothing concerning. Over the course of the next 3 years his teeth fell out or were loose and removed and he developed an abscess. This was kept under control with meds but couldn't be completely eradicated as it was all thru his jaw bones, he did remarkably well, still a happy cheeky little chap, loved playing in the garden with his gf, Sophie and running in and out doors.
However, granulated tissue formed on the inside and outside of his cheek, which was removed successfully, but the bony growth got bigger very quickly which put his jaw out of line, which meant he was unable to eat properly.

He was the sweetest bunny ever, very very much missed. 💖 Binky free little lad 😘

Thanks to Holly who spotted him on a selling site, Cat for collecting, Cinzia and Nico for fostering and Sarah for transporting, he had a happy few years he definitely wouldn't have had.

Bob Sell has very kindly offered to have a raffle for us to go towards vet fees :)

It will be based on the bonus ball in the national lottery standard lotto draw that takes place closest after the last number is sold. Basically Wednesday or Saturday after the final number is snapped up, you can check the lottery results to see if you have won but we will be updating and contacting you.

There is a 1 in 59 chance to win either a 30 x 20cm engraving of your choice, it can be a house number with a photo of your bun or anything else, a hanging photo or memorial or one on a wood stand. The other option is a set of 4 10 x 10cm photo coasters featuring your buns or other family.

Some examples of Bobs work are attached, it's definitely worth a chance at £2 a number :)

So numbers are £2 each as mentioned, payable to One Bun, either to Bank account (preferred to avoid fees) - Lloyds Business - One Bun At A time - 30.98.97 - 82139368 or Paypal - [email protected]. Please add Note - Engraving followed by your number(s).

Comment below with the number(s) you want between 1 and 59 and you've paid, but please read all comments to make sure it's not already gone in case we've not had chance to update the list.

Good luck and huge thanks to Bob, these engravings are amazing, and we can vouch for that as we have some :)

It's been a long time since we have done a Hovis update.
Hovis is about 300 yrs old 🤣 he came in a batch sent to us by Many Tears Rescue a few years ago . He is living well beyond our expectations as his problems are many. Bilateral Basal Ear Abscess, Partial Facial Paralysis and Bilateral ear infections plus blocked tear ducts. He has his ears and eyes flushed once a week and a pain med protocol that works very well for him. He is a seriously tough cookie 🥰

Exactly this ⬇️ rescues are at a crisis point, it's hugely mentally draining on rescue owners and many many innocent rabbits are being abandoned and dying, it's heartbreaking. - something needs to be done about hobby breeders hoping to make a quick buck and selling rabbits in pet shops needs to STOP.. how though? that's the question :( ADOPT DON'T SHOP Naturewatch Foundation, The Rabbit Welfare Association and Fund

Yesterday in less than two and a half hours we were asked to take in nine rabbits over five surrender requests. We are a tiny operation, we aren’t well known, so this is likely just a drop in the ocean compared to what large charities are receiving. Where does this end? Where do we signpost these people to? There is nowhere, because every rescue is in the same situation. When we say we can’t help (not because we don’t want to, but because we have no space, we have no money..we do want to help, more than anything we want to take those animals!) and you ask us ‘So what do I do?’ - the answer is, i don’t know either. We honestly don’t know. Because we are human beings just the same as you are, working full time jobs & juggling family commitments and…LIFE. We don’t have huge purpose built centres, we have our family homes, we don’t have unlimited money, hence all the posts begging for people to help us make ends meet. Instead we have sleepless nights over where these rabbits will end up and what their lives will look like hereon. Where does it end? I just don’t know..😟

Helping ‘at risk’ pet rabbits & guinea pigs in the UK get to the safety of a good rescue, via a network of transporters/fosters

One Bun At A Time has been set up to help at risk pet rabbits and guinea pigs get to safety via a nationwide network of excellent Rescues, Fosterers and Transporters. By 'at risk' we mean, those that look to be neglected, ill, living in unsuitable conditions. The welfare of the rabbits and guinea pigs is our priority.

We can also help with breeders / meat farms etc. closing down and hoarding situations. We also have experience of going into situations where large numbers of rabbits/piggies need removing from unsuitable conditions. We vaccinate for rvhd2 and quarantine before placing into rescues around the UK. We will also offer the amazing rescues who help us the chance of having One Bun Sanctuary Back Up. This would mean that if any Rabbits or Guinea pigs we have sent out are found to have serious or lifelong conditions or they need to have specialised & costly veterinary care , we are happy to have them returned to us and we will take on the cost and if needed Palliative Care of that animal. We hope that by offering this it will relieve the pressure that rescues can be faced with. We also know it is impossible for every rescue to provide Sanctuary Space for every Special One that comes along.

We have several One Bun sanctuary rabbits that need constant care, all have been neutered/spayed and fully vaccinated, they live with us in our homes as part of our families.

We are a multi-skilled team, we are all rescuers, with very good knowledge of the rabbit and guinea pig rescue world. We follow the Rabbit Welfare Association guidelines.
