Getting your guinea pig’s diet right can often feel overwhelming. So, let’s make it simple! Guinea pigs are herbivores, and need a mixture of different food types to keep them happy and healthy.
A good quality hay, such as meadow or our Timothy hay, should make up the bulk of their diet. This should be followed with a variation of different leafy greens to provide all of the essential vitamins and nutrients a guinea pig needs, including that all-essential vitamin C that piggies cannot make themselves. Please make sure to avoid feeding your piggies iceberg lettuce!
Treats, and different types of fruit, should be fed only occasionally and are great to use when bonding with your piggies! Lastly, it goes without saying that fresh water should be accessible to your piggies at all times. What do your piggies enjoy most in their diet? 🌾🌱
