Hello 🐶 I’m Katie, the owner of Four Paws, and I'd like to tell you all a little about myself!
Growing up my parents were HUGE animals lovers. We had all kinds of creatures in our home; Birds, Lizards, Tortoises, Dogs, Guinea Pigs, Cats, Rabbits, Hamsters. You name it, I grew up with it. It was during my upbringing I became ABSOLUTELY head over heels in love with dogs! 🐦🦎🐢🐶🐺🐇🐾
My family had a Jack Russell named Max, my best friend who'd ride around with me in my little tikes car and dress up in my princess dresses. After Max, we took on a rescue Boxer, Amber. She was an ex-breeding girl and needed a lot of love after a shaky start to her life. I adored her, she was goofy, loving and fiercely protective.. so began my obsession with Boxers. By the time I was at college there were three Boxers in the house including Holly, a female velcro dog who needed me 24/7, she was my girl and we did everything together 🥰
It only felt natural to me to go into the animal care industry, so I began an apprenticeship at a small animal veterinary surgery where I worked as a vet nurse. I did this for around 8 years, and thoroughly enjoyed it. At times it could be traumatic to see the animals I loved and cared for in pain and suffering. After I lost Holly very suddenly, just 8 weeks after losing her boxer companion Lennie, that I found the upsetting side of the job was getting too much for me, and I took the difficult decision to leave.
With a keen interest in canine behaviour I decided to slightly redirect my career and take on a qualification in this field. I began work in a doggy daycare which was heaps of fun and I knew this was it, this was my calling! After having my little girl in January last year, I have decided to become a dog walker as it opens up more flexibility for my new young family while continuing with my passion. Me, my little girl Fiadh and my boxer Daisy really look forward to meeting all your four legged friends 🐕❤️🐾
