It was certainly a manic Monday yesterday farrier day all the donkeys had their hooves trimmed, they where all very well behaved and relaxed even Coco pictured who sometimes can be a fidget bum 😆

Charlie Brown……aka CB 💕

Everyone who meets or knows him can’t help but love him he is such a character, he is very vocal will come to call loves attention from his people family and adores a good bum scratch 🤗
Yesterday he was a star he lead a local nativity walk 🤩
He looked so proud of him self on return and went straight down the field for a jolly good roll after looking very smart for his outing 😆
Cb is very independent and doesn’t have a bonded friend he is not good at sharing… Love him

Huge thanks to everyone who attended our Carols yesterday afternoon your support is greatly appreciated 🙏 it was the first time we have done anything like this and a learning curve.

We are feeling festive 🎄🎅🎄🎅

There will be a couple of donkeys attending Stoke fruit farms Christmas festivities today from 10 - 2pm 🫏 🎄
We also are looking forward to our Carols at the sanctuary later this afternoon 🎶🎄 Sorry if you missed out on tickets for this fundraiser it was hugely popular and all the tickets sold quickly, there is always next year perhaps we could hold two services?

We are open to visiting the donkeys this morning and tomorrow if you want to escape the crazy busy shops and enjoy some peace.
Hot drinks and delicious cake available from our little coffee cabin ☕️ 🧁 We also have some beautiful donkey themed gifts if you’re still looking to buy presents or adopt a donkey the hardest thing is choosing one…. Look at them all 😍💕

She is such a sassy girl, very confident and quite bossy, she will put everyone in there place and won’t take any nonsense from any of the other donkeys.
Her best friend is Millie and honestly they are inseparable, she will not let Millie out of her sight and if Millie does wonder off literally for a moment or so Poppy will bray and bray her head off frantically and then tells her off 😆

Oh Poppy you are a one … 🙄 We love her distinctive markings on her face and her ear she really is a darling girly and we love her to bits 🥰 xx

He is a quiet boy well until it comes to food he likes to be the first one at the feed trough or to get the carrots, he doesn’t have a bestie he likes to mix and mingle amongst all the donkeys spreading his love 🥰

Hopefully the storm has passed now gosh what a wild weekend it was we all felt absolutely battered just doing the daily chores 🤪 HUGE thanks to our team of volunteers 🙏

Looking festive in his green rug all snug 🥰

⚠️ WE WILL REMAIN CLOSED TODAY ⚠️

It’s a real challenge in the winter months let along with this storm we are flooded in places ahh! So we feel it best for everyone to keep closed to visitors and solely concentrate on the donkeys care and comfort as they come first, second, third…. 😆

Teddy and Frank…. 🤎

Two gorgeous boys who have formed a strong friendship 💕

Frank may be small but has a huge cheeky personality he adores a fuss and a lot of attention from us he will stand for ages with you he can’t get enough fuss cuddles 🥰
Teddy is quite and likes his own personal space when people are around him he isn’t very confident generally, you have to be calm he does enjoy a fuss and cuddles too but on his terms which is fine we respect each and everyone of them and there funny little ways ☺️

It’s Hugo…. ❤️

A very handsome confident boy a far cry from when we first set eyes on him, living in filth scared and nervous his coat was covered in mess and completely matted,underneath he was very thin it broke our hearts and we could see Hugos spirit was also broken 💔
Over time we gained his trust and watched him thrive and to see a sparkle back in his eyes…… is just the best feeling ever 🥰

Now with all that behind him he is living his best life and he adores Ozzy they are inseparable! Xx

Alfie and Cash…. 💕❤️💕

Thank you all for your lovely well wishes for Ollie yesterday it means so much the love and support we have from you for the Donkeys ☺️ xx

Alfie adores Cash and although Cash is now in his twilight years and is very slow at keeping up, Alfie will always go check on him and often stand by his side giving him gentle nudges 🥰
Their friendship is strong, when you see Alfie amongst the others playing it can be quite rough but around Cash he is so gentle and calm he knows Cash is old and fragile its really so sweet 💕

We have been concerned about Ollie of late who has been lack lustre and generally not himself, so with no hesitation we called the vet to run some blood tests which sadly reveal that Ollie has cushings disease ☹️
He has started his daily medication which can initially cause them to go off their food which he has already!
With cushings they grow a very thick coat and sweat, coupled with a low immune system can leave them very susceptible to infections. We are keeping a very close eye on him as he already has a bit of a skin issue which requires two washes a week with some prescribed shampoo from the vet.
He will have repeat blood tests in a few weeks to check his hormone levels and hopefully a low dose of Pracend for the rest of his life will keep him stable, feeling better and enjoy his twilight years.

Poor boy this is common in elderly donkeys and we have several already with cushings and is easily managed once the balance is right.

Ollie is a very special donkey and loved by all…… We will get you feeling better soon Ollie 🥰💙💕💙💕 ###x

The donkeys were all a bit fed up but hey it’s winter and they are always wet!
Thank you to the visitors who still came out to visit, your support is vital to us 🙏

Whoo Hoo! The rain has stopped!!! 🤗😃

Rusty loves a facial…… 🥰 Hope you enjoy this little clip! We steam the donkeys hay to help reduce dust etc. it comes out of the steamer smelling malty and delicious and is of course lovely and warm, as soon as you make your way over to the shelters to put it in the troughs we are met by little Rusty who won’t let you pass without his daily ritual of rubbing his face all over it he absolutely loves it! It makes us smile every time 😊
