🎶🎵 Sea Shanties at the Sanctuary Fundraiser. 🎵🎶

⚓️ DATE - 28th SEPTEMBER ⚓️

This is a wonderful opportunity to support the donkeys whilst enjoying a unique evening with Hayling Islands very own Force 10 Sea Shanty Crew along with the company of our beautiful donkeys.
We are trying to raise as much money as we can and all monies raised will go directly to the donkeys in our care 🫏😊

You can enjoy the evening from 4.30pm to 7.00pm and will include:

🥕 Force 10 singing a collection of Sea Shanties 🎶 🎵

🥕 Time to meet the donkeys. 🫏 ❤️🫏

🥕 Refreshments available from Daphne’s Tea room. 🍰☕️

🥕 Raffle. 🤞

🥕 Donkey themed gifts available from our gift shop. 🎁

(Under 5 years old accompanied by an adult free)

Please note this is an outdoor event and may have to be resheduled in the event of bad weather.

A lovely boy who is extremely vocal loves his meal times and a good bum scratch, he doesn’t reverse in to you so gently oh no!!!
Cb is now in his early 20s and his face is getting very grey.

These two have been seen often playing with each other Coco & Dudley….. 🥰
We have had Dudley not quite a year yet and he has settled in so well he is a lovely boy who just wants to play all the time he’s a joy always puts a smile on your face, he has certainly given Coco a new lease of life…… 😁

One of our bigger boys ever so handsome, very vocal and very greedy 😆
We love him he adores a bum scratch he will reverse in to you slowly and carefully minding your feet. He doesn’t like brooms and sticks? Kinda tell you some thing of his past!

From right to left we have Barney, Dylan & Pedro and on the end we have our youngest boy Dudley.
This little group are ever so playful and very inquisitive not a care in the world…… 🥰

We are open to visitors for some peaceful donkey interaction followed by some tea/coffee & delicious cake….. Our little cabin shop is filled with beautiful donkey gifts……. 🎁

Dear old Cash…… ❤️

He really does enjoy a watermelon 🍉 he is getting slower and a bit more fussy with his food which is slightly worrying, having spoken to our vet we have decided to run some general blood tests just to check everything is ok.
He has cushions disease we know the medication to treat this can initially suppress the appetite so this has been reduced for a while. Bless him to think he used to be so very greedy and would eat anything put in front of him …. 😆

This Is why your support is vital to us donkeys like Cash in there twilight years need lots more medication vets checks etc which costs a hell of a lot….

Just look at that squishy pink nose ,she is such a sassy confident girly her bestie is MIllie they are inseparable.
We love her different coloured ears and her markings on her face…… 😍

It’s not a nice start to the bank holiday weekend the donkeys are refusing to come out and who can blame them,donkeys are not water proof 💦

Despite the weather we are open to visitors but please do remember that to visit us you do need to BOOK …… by calling the sanctuary booking number📞 07720204685📞 We are a small sanctuary with limited facilities parking being one!

All enjoying some tasty branches which donkeys love ….. 🌿 and provides not only a source of food but also mental stimulation chewing on the branches and stripping bark off logs.

Tucker and Dudley…… 💚

Just look how tall Dudley is he is our youngest at around 4years old, he is so very elegant the way he runs he almost floats and covers the ground with those long legs.
And tucker well…. The cow donkey ☺️ a firm favourite with everyone as he really does stand out .

Let’s melt into Monday with Teddy - Aka Bear 💕

Teddy bear is already starting to look a little fluffier winter coats soon start to grow. Sadly he has arthritis in his shoulder he does have daily medication to help ease the discomfort but still walks with a slight limp…. Bless him ☺️

Good morning….

We would like to thank you all for your lovely messages regarding our loss of Chester on Friday ( we cried reading them 🥲) Your support is overwhelming….
He was a very popular donkey and clearly loved by all …❤️
The sanctuary felt very quiet yesterday the donkeys didn’t seem there usual selves and we where all feeling extremely emotional….
Thank you to Cate and all who took part in our donkey Yoga fundraiser 🧘‍♂️Your support is very much appreciated 🙏

❤️❤️❤️❤️ Chester ❤️❤️❤️❤️

It was a very sad day yesterday……
It’s the first day today for nearly three years that we are not met at the gate with our darling boys welcome bray 😥

After a neurological episode making it difficult for him to control his legs, balance and fall over, our vets undertook extensive investigations and it was concluded there was nothing more we could do for him given his age and other health issues and had to make the heartbreaking decision to say goodbye to our lovely friend 💔
He was very old and since living at the sanctuary he blossomed into a huge personality who loved life, enjoying lots of attention, fuss, cuddles and his food!
We are devastated….. 😔
This part of our work is never easy each and every donkey we have in our care is so very special to us and is a very much loved member of our family.

….. If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane we would walk right up to heaven and bring you home again….. RIP Chester ❤️ ######xx 🌈 ###x

It’s a lazy start today for some…… Albie 💕

Such a sweetheart Albie is an old head on young shoulders he is so quiet, he adores Percy but we often see him hanging out with Rusty whilst Percy goes off and plays with Dudley.
He doesn’t seem to mind he just prefers a quiet life ☺️

Sparky is a lovely boy with a gentle calm nature he gets on well with everyone and loves to play!

Lovely sweet petite Piper…. 💛

He is very similar looking to Finley except for Pipers ears which are very distinctive being quite wide, he is a lovely boy quite and very calm and a good baby sitter for any newbies.

We have just a couple of species left for our fundraiser yoga at the sanctuary which is next - Saturday the 17th - amongst some of our inquisitive super friendly donkeys 🫏🧘

Whoo Hoo! The rain has stopped!!! 🤗😃

Rusty loves a facial…… 🥰 Hope you enjoy this little clip! We steam the donkeys hay to help reduce dust etc. it comes out of the steamer smelling malty and delicious and is of course lovely and warm, as soon as you make your way over to the shelters to put it in the troughs we are met by little Rusty who won’t let you pass without his daily ritual of rubbing his face all over it he absolutely loves it! It makes us smile every time 😊

Keeping themselves amused inside today with all this horrid wet weather 🌧 🌧 Pedro & Dylan 😂 love them 💕
