Oh my what a gorgeous duo these two are🤗
Hugo and Ozzy have turned out to be firm friends but that’s not always been the case.
Hugo (left) used to always hang around with his half brother Alfie and Ozzy (right) used be besties with Bertie,
but just like people they have found the special one 😍 and it is so lovely to see their relationships change and develop.

These two rarely do anything without the other being very close by it is so cute 🥰

It’s good to laugh 🤣😂

In case you are thinking of ways you can help put a smile on a donkeys face we would greatly appreciate some carrots 🥕 as our stocks are very low 😁
You can buy them via our website or at your local shop and drop off at the sanctuary gates we know they will have the desired effect 😊

He has very distinctive ears they are quite wide 🤗 shouldn’t have a favourite but he is very special to us being one of the first ever donkeys we had 🥰

The Girls…. 💕💗💕

Let’s introduce them - Isabelle ( the grey one ) who is around 13 years old,
Madelaine ( in the middle - tongue 😛 lol ) who is around 8 years and Florence (on the right) who is around 6 years old - love her fringe 😍

They are very chilled, taking everything in and getting used to their new routine.
We aren’t rushing into anything with them at the moment slowly, slowly trust is earned with donkeys spending time around them gently and calmly.

Charles… 🧡🩶🧡🩶

He is a handsome boy even in his winter woolies 🤗 Charles is a real thinker he stands and watches everything that going on.
He is very greedy always the first at the hay bar and the first for carrots being a big donkey no one can get past him 😆
Although our new arrivals are big donkeys so he may have some competition!

Here come the girls….. 💕💗💕💗

They arrived safe n sound and so calm HUGE THANKS to Ilona and James of Hampshire European Horse Transport.
These girls are gorgeous , it’s really hard to imagine these beauties were on route to an abattoir 😢
Thank goodness Felicity saved them from that awful fate.

Time now for you three lovely donkey ladies to settle, kick back and relax into your new home… ☺️

The girls Isabelle, Florence and Madeline left France yesterday evening loaded very well and we have been kept updated every step of the way.

Huge thanks to Felicity, Helen, their team of helpers at the Pegasus Sanctuary and Ilona from Hampshire European Horse Transport for her extremely professional service working through the long and complex process… ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We are awaiting their arrival this morning and are extremely excited to meet them……🥰 💕

It’s Finley….. 🧡🩵🧡🩵

He is a super sweet little donkey very affectionate with us loves nothing more than to be groomed and fussed he will stand for ages 🤗 on the other hand he can be extremely playful and giddy with some members of his donkey family careering about playing he is very quick and nimble and will out run most of them 😆
He loves Barney but equally shares his love and affection with all 🫏💕🫏

Fluffy Percy… 🤗 and a snoozy Hugo… ☺️ 💙🩵💙

🇫🇷 🫏 Update on the french donkeys 🫏🇫🇷
We are expecting them to arrive Saturday - Yay!! Hopefully everything will go to plan and smoothly. We are very excited, but also mindful that these donkeys are not very well socialised and are difficult to handle. It will take lots of time and patience to integrate them into the sanctuary life as well as the medical side of things, vet checks, equine flue and tetanus vaccinations, enrolling them on a worming program, dentistry work and ensuring they are comfortable and safe to mix with the rest of the herd. It is always an unsettling time when newcomers arrive until they understand they are safe in a loving home and everyone finds their place. We know deep down that all will work out ok but we also appreciate the tricky process we need to go through before all is settled.

This type of rehabilitation is only possible with your ongoing support which makes a real difference to these beautiful animals lives and we deeply appreciate it. 🥰

J J …… 🩶💙🩶💙

He is a striking boy, we love his typical donkey cross on his back, and is looking very fluffy in his winter woolies 🤗 JJ is the boss of the herd making sure everyone is in order although he has mellowed over the years and now just insists he has a treat from doing a good job. His bray is like a lion roaring its really unique until meeting him we had never herd a donkey bray ( roar ) like it 🤣

Cash… 💕❤️💕

Our dear old boy Cash thoroughly enjoying the sunshine yesterday,
We took his rug off after he’d been wearing it through the cold night and he practically sunbathed all day ☀️😎
He is ever so slow these days the cold winter months make his joints stiff so we try and keep him warm and he has daily meds to help him.
He has a lovely soft coat and a loving nature which means he gets lots of cuddles from all the volunteers 🥰

Whoo Hoo! The rain has stopped!!! 🤗😃

Rusty loves a facial…… 🥰 Hope you enjoy this little clip! We steam the donkeys hay to help reduce dust etc. it comes out of the steamer smelling malty and delicious and is of course lovely and warm, as soon as you make your way over to the shelters to put it in the troughs we are met by little Rusty who won’t let you pass without his daily ritual of rubbing his face all over it he absolutely loves it! It makes us smile every time 😊
