Well Boerboel UK has news for everybody this weekend. After watching the demise of the breed as we knew it,after watching these dogs now be bred in fad colours and patterns, with no health testing, fake appraisal scores,no DNA being done,of watching other organisations ethics of their breeders go down the pan while they sit back and do nothing to protect the old lines of the original dogs, while they sit back and allow the rot to set in,while they sit back and allow ‘exotic’ and ‘rare’ to become the buzz words in their breeders adverts which will soon read like the genetic code that you see in the Frenchies etc, while they sit back and watch the ruination of a once noble, strong, athletic guarding breed-just as has happened to so many breeds through history-all for fashion, all for money. After watching all of this we knew it was time to make a huge change.
Well for our 10th anniversary BUKS decided to let them all get on with it,they can all be proud of themselves, the orgs that allowed the changes that make the breed worse, the breeders that make the changes that make the breed unrecognisable and the owners who demand the changes to keep up with current trends. The organisations must be so proud that they push for changes as it suits their pockets, that are not actually there to protect the history or to work with and learn from other more ethical organisations but to make as much money as possible in whatever way they think fit for themselves or for their organisation. They should be ashamed of themselves.
BUKS members and committee have been in discussions with how to preserve the true old dog’s lines, namely,Ysterberg. For this reason BUKS members have voted in the majority to help preserve the breed and old line that let’s face it,actually built BUKS, initially through Sandaharr breeders, latterly through all the breeders who worked alongside them. So…..BUKS shall now be transitioning to SAM – UK,the supporting arm of the South African Mastiff Breed Council that is based in S.A.
We are proud to announce that for our 10th anniversary this month that we now have a new fresh start, like Ysterberg all those years ago we now move away from the politics,we move away from the ‘breeders’ producing allsorts to becoming part of an organisation that will work together for the future of the South African Mastiff while respecting the history from all those years ago.To this end we are so pleased to tell the world that we,as a club, have been accepted by the EXCO of the SAM Breed Council to help promote and build the breed for the future. We are grateful to all who helped answer our many questions and who accept our vision, energy and enthusiasm.
We fully understand that there are going to be lots of questions, lots of owners who don’t quite understand what this means for them but there shall be a Q and A file available for all BUKS owners and the committee is available to answer any additional queries, particularly about the upcoming show and appraisal, which we have decided to postpone until a slightly later date.
To allow the club to transition,re-brand and re-organise we are asking for a bit of patience from all interested parties. We shall welcome new members very soon to go on this new, exciting journey with us as a club. Thanks to all who supported BUKS for the last 10 years,we would love you to be part of our future as SAM – UK.
