Most people think that pigs will eat absolutely anything….
Meet Lily 🐷
She’s discovered the taste of her meds, and is now spitting them out 🫠
🐷All the pigs come running at breakfast time.
Except Stan.
Stan is not a fan of mornings.
I relate.
Anyone else?
It’s quiet around here now we are down to just 2 geese.
Cliff & his partner Sheila didn’t get rehomed with the other 9 last week because Cliff had injured his foot.
He’s all healed now 🥰
Cliff had part of his beak bitten off in a dog attack before he came to us, but as you can see he manages perfectly well!
It’s rained all afternoon here, and it’s due to rain all night.
I’m pretty confident the pigs are grateful to have the big barn all year round. Last year they had small arcs in the field.
Thanks to you and your continued support we’ve been able to improve their space so they have much more shelter. Much needed with the UK’s unpredictable weather 😭
Just £1 a month enables us to do so much more together. Could you consider setting up a standing order to support us if you don’t already?

When you’re impatient and can’t wait for the snacks to be handed out…
‘Happy New Forever Home 🏠’
12 of our field clouds went off to their new home this weekend, it was so lovely to receive this update video of them all settled 🐑
Edgar the turkey may look intimidating, but he’s an absolute softie who loves his snacks hand fed… 🦃
Breakfast time for the gang!
We scatter their feed so they don’t fight over the feed, there’s 20 pigs here living together with minimal arguments as they have lots of space to eat and sleep.
Usually the pigs are all outside at this time of year, but the consistent bad weather has made us limit the time and space they have outside until the fields dry up some more!
🐷🐷
Anyone else in the UK had all 4 seasons of the year this week?
It was raining heavily an hour ago, but now it’s glorious if a little chilly!
Parker is enjoying an early evening graze tonight, it’s the first time I’ve seen him eat grass 🥰
We’re at Newcastle under Lyme vegan festival today until 3pm! Pop down and see us 🥰
Introducing Mr Fuzzy.
Cabbage is a firm favourite and gets him smacking his lips 🐷🥰
Spring raffle draw! Good luck everyone!
🦃I was tidying the snack cupboard yesterday when Libby came over to see if I needed any help opening the biscuits….
🐐 Bob & Pudding both wanting a cuddle at the same time 🥰
🐷Norman and the gang are loving the sunshine 🌞

This herd of 20 were once solo, pairs and trios of pigs. They’ve been living together as a herd for almost a year now and we couldn’t have done that merge without your support. They deserve all the love and space they have together. This barn and field space is as a direct result of you supporting our ‘every snout counts’ campaign last year 🐷🥰
We want to merge our big pigs this year, so they have the same opportunities of more space & more friends. Can you help us make it a reality?
Gilbert has some work to do with his bed making skills… if you can call them skills… 🐷
Not going to lie, I reckon his Barry is a bit disappointed he’s got to sort the bed out again!
These boys were born in a defra isolation unit & luckily they had the awesome Sasha from Beneath The Wood Sanctuary fighting their corner and all pigs were released into sanctuary instead of being destroyed 💚🌱
Dave…
Safe to say I think Dave just wanted a kiss before his nap 🥹🐷🤣
🏡 ❤️ Can you find these boys their forever ladies? ❤️🏡
Cockerels are awesome, and great flock protectors too, when they have a flock of ladies to look after they do it with the upmost care and consideration. You’ll often see a cockerel clucking loudly for his hens when he’s found some tasty snacks, and then he’ll stand guard and watch to make sure they’re safe whilst they’re eating 🥹
If you have a flock of hens who are looking for a Cockerel to take care of them then do reach out, all of our bantam boys would absolutely love a flock of ladies to care for 🥰
I caught Jill with her head in the hay bag this morning, and she pretended it wasn’t her and casually walked off… oblivious that she was covered in evidence 🫣
It’s been 11 months since Audrey and her pals came to Footprints from horrendous conditions where they were knee deep in mud 24/7 with little food.
They merged in with the big herd last summer, but have always been very reserved. Keeping their distance, grunting disapproving sounds when we got too close.
Today I walked the perimeter of the field to check the fencing, and Audrey followed me the whole way round so I took my chance to say hi to her, and offer her a little scratch on the nose.
I think she feels safe now 🥰😍
Gaining a pigs trust when we don’t know their past takes time and patience. It’s always worth the wait 🐷
