Thank you to all the wonderful dog loving community!
We have achieved the target we set for Casper and he is now under the care of Richard at Springfield Vets, Ecclesfield. We totally trust Springfields as they performed miracles when our Chocky Lab ruptured both Cruciate ligaments at the same time. We thought he was a gonner, now he runs around like a puppy, so we know Casper is going to get great care and attention.

To all those who have supported this campaign, with posting, sharing, messaging and of course donating, we can not thank you enough. It is truly humbling to receive such support and definitely rebuilds some belief in human nature.

I would like to mention Aquavet Sheffield who have offered Casper support with Physiotherapy and Hydrotherapy sessions to help heal and build up is ankle once the vets say the time is right. This is something that I truly believe will help the little man gain full use and strength in the leg and really reduce the risk of further injury. Thank You Hannah, really appreciated.

As for Casper, he is doing great, settled in so well to our mad house, gaining weight and the swelling in the ankle has reduced. He is still under sedation to try and stop him using it to much, not easy when him and our Ozie get together. We love having him with us, and come the day he is fit and ready for his forever home, we will have a massive battle on our hands between our head and hearts. Who ever is fortunate enough to welcome this boy into the home and hearts, will gain the love of a wonderful companion.

Thank you again for your support, you have made all this possible and enabled us to give this boy the life he deserves.

Love and respect to you all,

Jon and Jane

Another quick update.
Casper has had his x-rays and we have been given preliminary findings. The ankle has been injured for a while, possibly dislocated and popped back in. It has been over extended to such a degree that the ligaments / tendons can not at this point hold it in place when he walks on it.
The good news is that there does not seem to be structural bone damage although we are awaiting final confirmation from the orthopaedic specialist vet at Springfields next week. The even better news is that Springfields vets are confident that the ankle will make a full recovery in time, hopefully with minimal intervention.
The current care plan is to treat with anti inflammatory tablets, and keep him as imobile as possible. (Thats the hard bit! 😆) to get the swelling down. He is on sedation tablets to keep him from running around, so is getting lots of sleep.
We have a follow-up appointment next week, when the next stage of care will be agreed.
In the meantime, he is happy and getting lots of love and food to gain some weight back. Him and our Ozzie are best buddies which is both a curse and a blessing! 😆

A quick update on Casper.

Firstly, a massive thank you to each and everyone of you that has donated, the response is amazing and helps to restore some faith in human beings.

Casper is at the vets as we speak, he has had his x-rays and I am due to pick him up and see the vet early evening. I will post a further update after then, when hopefully, I will have more information about the recommended course of action. Fingers crossed🤞 for a good result with minimum intervention.

Again, thank you supporting this wonder little lad, please keep sharing where you can, friends, family, social media etc. It all helps.

Eternally grateful, Jon and Jane x

Hi Everyone, meet Casper!
He came into our care a few days ago after being found abandoned in a crate in some woods. No bedding, no food, soaking wet and freezing cold, simply dumped and left to die.
He is approximately 4-5 months old and best guess would be a Lurcher / Labrador cross.
He is somewhat emaciated so needs feeding up and MOST IMPORTANTLY has a somewhat deformed ankle joint on his front left leg. He has been checked at Springfield Vets today and as we suspected it would appear that it has been dislocated or brocken and has not been treated so therefore has not healed correctly. He is going for Xrays tomorrow to ascertain the full extent of repair needed.
Luckily, it can be repaired, but is likely to need an operation and possibly plating.

He is a beautiful lad, with an amazing, loving nature. He has settled in with our 5 dogs very quickly, is taking on toilet training and learning his name. There is no doubt that he will make an absolutely wonderful companion to the right person, he is fun, soft and very loving. (Our hearts want to keep him, but our heads are saying we are at capacity with 5 already)
So, the situation is this:
We are going to "foster care" him until he is fully fit and well and the leg is fixed, then we will seek the right home for him. We are funding as much of the care as we can..

However, we really need our fellow dog lovers support!
We all recognise vet bills for such repairs are not cheap, and although Springfields vets will offer some support, we NEED TO RAISE UP TO £2000 to cover the cost of his leg repair and having him neutered.
(All funds raised will be used for Casper's care)

It seems that Casper's start in life was a harsh one, he must wonder what kind of creatures us humans are, that can leave him injured, cold, wet starving and alone to die!
Please help us to prove to him that most of us a decent, with a true love for our dog friends by making a donation, however big or small to his care, via our Go Fund Me page at:

On behalf of Casper, I thank yo/u for taking the time to read this a for helping in anyway you can! Even if you can't donate, please share this dar and wide!

Doggy Walks’n’Play launched

Setting up Doggy Walks’n’Play is the culmination of a life time ambition for myself. Many, many moons ago I failed a medical to go into the RAF as a dog handler and ended up pursuing an alternative career. For the whole of my working life since, I have wanted to find a way to spend my life working with dogs, and now I am.

Having purchased the fully equipped van, encompassing 5 cages, hot water and dog washing facility (being installed), completed my Dog First aid and numerous training workshops, I am ready to put my 40 years of dog ownership and training experience to good use, and spend my time doing what I love the most, looking after wonderful dogs.

Doggy Walks’n’Play has commenced dog walking, walk and training and dog training, it is hoped that the Doggy Play Center will be up and running in the next couple of months. I am driven by the belief that our dogs do not just need more than “just a walk”, they need physical, mental and social interaction, that is why if you allow us to take care of your beloved dog when you cant be there to do so, we guarantee to treat your dogs with the same love, care and attention as we do our own.
