Sorry for the lack of posts but we're back with a BANG!!

Myself and Fly have completed our first day at the BD winter National championships.

We competed in the Intermediate 1 Gold class and we got a 69+% to finish tenth 👏🎉🥳

We're very happy with how he's been going recently and this has shown within the test marks , aside from a little tension causing us to have a costly few mistakes but still very chuffed today.

We're on tomorrow in the freestyle test at 14.21 and myself, Carol and Liz can't wait to dance down that centre line as it's all play for with percentages very close today.

Thankyou to for the lovely photos and it was lovely to see you today 😊

Thankyou to everyone for their continued support and we hope to do you proud tomorrow.

So incredibly proud to be a Testt supported rider!

I feel privileged to have contributed to one of Andy Thomas studies, The whole process was incredible and results were fascinating, furthermore being able to utilize this into my everday training and understanding of how I perform as an athlete to then improve my horses way of going is fantastic I say!!

I am also proud to host clinics were amateurs and professionals alike all come away with a new sense of understanding and knowledge, Only due to having one of the worlds best physio's in our presence.

Please read the blog to understand more behind TESTT.

A great start to 2023 , The horses and I are starting our preparations for the Winter Regionals, But also trying to keep them sane whilst we've got this Frozen weather which I'm sure everyone else is struggling with....

However we did manage to have an exciting visit from Les a while ago,
Myself and are getting really excited about the arrival of Fly’s new handcrafted, made-to-measure saddle from

Very much looking forwards to seeing the many hours of beautiful craftsmanship that have been put into producing our new saddle.

With one week to go , we are counting down the days !!

A long awaited post of
Sunny and fly with their sashes and rosette's on from our successful trip to
to attend the Festival of Dressage back in September.

I did not feel it was appropriate at the time to post about this due to the passing of HM Queen Elizabeth II.

Both boys did us proud, Fly won the PSG and PSG music class and Sunny won the GP class.

A very big thankyou goes to Sarah from whom sponsored these classes with the winners getting lots of goodies and a VERY generous amount of prize money!!!

It was a fantastic competition and I wish next year there will be a large amount of entries to support a show like this!! I will be back next year to compete for sure!!

I am also looking forward to the Winter Regionals which are being held at Chard Equestrian in February next year. We were very impressed with the stabling facilities and the arenas are as impressive!!

Thankyou as ever to everyone who makes this possible, A large amount of people are behind the scenes that keep the show on the road 😊🎉🐎🎶

A late update about our trip to the BD Summer National championships.

Myself, Liz and Carol made the long journey upto Somerford Park with Fly.
We did the PSG , PSG freestyle and the Int 1.

Each test had some lovely moments and some great scores for some of the movements however we let ourselves down a little by having a few silly mistakes in each test.

Although I was happy with our warm ups and it's just about working on his tension within the arena.

Now we're planning on working through the winter to gain his confidence at this level and regularly compete until the winter regionals.

Thankyou to everyone for the support especially owner Liz who is so patient with us whilst we strive to produce fly upto Grand Prix.

So as you may have seen, This summed up our weekend at the Summer Regionals 😃

Absolute madness that myself and "Dragonfly VCG" Won the Fairfax PSG Gold on Saturday and are off to the BD National championships in September.
🥇 😱🐎😍🎉

He then topped it off by getting a third place in the Saracens Int 1 Gold on Sunday and we were thrilled for this result aswell. 🥉🐎😍

I didn't expect it at all and was only just processing our success from the weekend before at Vale View High Profile show. Which I'll do a separate update for.

Thankyou to everyone behind the scenes who help us with these achievements, It's definitely a team effort and I feel within the last few weeks we've started to shift into a new way of going which we are starting to reap the benefits from, very exciting!

*** NOX UPDATE****

Nox has been going so well and has taken to his ridden career like Duck to water !! 😃 🦆💦

We took the first month or so slowly to let him really settle and it's been just what he needed.
We can now tick all of these baby steps off the list.

- front shoes ✅
- lunging ✅
- bridle and saddle on ✅
- long reining ✅
- leaning over ✅
- sitting on ✅
- walking around with rider on top ✅

We are hoping to be hacking by next week which is very exciting. I must say a massive thankyou to the girls at who have helped me every step of the way so far and will be on the nanny horses out hacking keeping us safe.

It was lovely for owner to watch Nox today and we all felt very proud of how far he has come on already. You should also be proud of what a lovely horse you have bred. 🥰🐎

Another completely different show I went too!!

I was very lucky to be able to show Lindsay Miller's
"Fergus" at the Royal Bath & West show on Thursday,, whilst is on holiday.

This was both our first County show and Fergus behaved impeccably with the atmosphere, Let's just say my dressage horses would've been loose somewhere on the showground with what was going on in the main arena next to our ring 😱😅

Anyways we got a 1st 🥇place in the Inhand Irish draught class and a 4th in the ridden Irish draught class.

A fantastic show for Fergus and a beautiful day too!! Lovely to know there were people supporting us and such lovely comments were received for both Fergus and I.

Thankyou to Lindsey for allowing me to show him for you, Not sure I'm converted to showing quite yet, I may have to have a few more go's 😂

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly 😅

It was all going so well until this little whoopsie!!
Unfortunately Leo didn't quite like a taking to the wall , however it was too late for him to pull out hence the demolishing of the flag!! Luckily I managed to stay on but I was dressed from head to toe in my new safety gear from A lovely store to go too with lots of options to try on. 🙂

Fortunately he wasn't at all bothered and carried on beautifully till the end. Very lucky the flag gave way as it could've been a little more serious..

Bit this hasn't put us off cross country. I look forward to doing it again in the late summer.

Thankyou to team for helping us get there and supporting us with this adventure 😊

A long overdue post about my young boy Week Orchard Leonardo.

So anyone who has seen our journey from backing to now has been on a roll coaster ride with myself and Leo.

He has always been a very intelligent and lovely character to do, However to ride he has been a little tricker than anticipated, however I know how special he is so I have persisted as I have a future star I believe!!

I let a good client and friend of mine take Leo over the winter to go and have some fun going hunting and growing up in general doing lots of different activities, As he was very sharp to ride and a little unpredictable in the arena.

He has come back to me having learnt a lot about jumping and scary things and I started some work but still felt I had those devil horns in there still and wasn't as rideable as I needed for dressage😈

So I was recommended through a friend a jockey and was told he'll sort him out for me!

Well I have to say if someone had told me I would've completed a 2'9 hunter trial with Leo last week I might've laughed at you.

BUT WE DID! 😆🎉🐎
And I loved it!

David has been fantastic in getting Leo going confidently and respectful to a rider now. He has been able to sort out his naughty tendencies and he has allowed me to regain my confidence on him as Leo has been one of my toughest youngsters I've ever had to back and produce, Hence why I have called in for help and it's been the best decision for us both.

David has pushed us to go showjumping recently and then managed to get us to a Hunter trial last weekend which I still think is mad , but I am enjoying every moment of the progression we've made within the last month on Leo.

I haven't done this by myself , David has been there riding Leo prior to myself getting on and did so at the Hunter trial gaining a first 🥇 place in the 2'6 class before I then went onto get a third 🥉 in the 2'9. Proud doesn't even come close!!

Leo is now having a quieter time in the field resting and gaining a little more condition before I start him up later in the summer.

Will it be dressage or eventing???

A video to follow, And a scary moment from the Hunter trial 😅 who doesn't like drama 😂

In other exciting news , As you may have seen from owner

Liz has brought a new horse to have fun with and to produce 🐎😆

His name is Nox hva.
He is a 4 year old ,Gelding by Glamourdale x Painted Black.

Nox made his trip over from Holland almost a month ago now and he is starting to settle in well as it's been a big adjustment for him.

He's already seen the new locals and made lots of friends, He has had .baileyshorsefeeds
Come and visit and weigh him and I am soon to start the backing process with him.

Exciting times ahead with this one I feel 😃
Thankyou as ever for Liz with entrusting me with this little Gem and well done to the breeder
For breeding such a lovely boy, we hope to do you proud in the future !!

Wow what an abundance of activities I've done over the past month.

A long overdue post about myself and fly's outing to Hickstead Premier League first.

Well we're to start.......

Unfortunately the whole show didn't really go to plan, We started on our journey and we then had a blow out within an hour of us leaving, However everyone was safe, the mechanic was great and also the police had to shut the road just to cause a little more drama 😆

Anyways, we get to Hickstead however we have had to withdraw from the first class due to the blow out, But we still had time to do the PSG.

Unfortunately this was the only class I competed in due to myself falling very Ill with an infection, So off I and Carol go to A&E for the evening.

We eventually return to Hickstead with plenty of medication in the early hours of the next morning and therefore decided for both of our sakes to pull out of the next day and to go home in the afternoon.

Thankfully I am now fit and healthy and we're looking forwards to competing again soon.

I have to say a massive thankyou to and everyone at .bainbridge1 who rallied around to help us with the care of Fly whilst we went to hospital and also the Hickstead stable managers/ paramedics were fantastic and very caring.

Also a big thankyou to the most supportive owner and sponsor's,

Whom without I'm sure the Bad days wouldn't feel as easy to cope with. We'll be back to compete another day soon. 🐎🎉😃

08/05/2022

Myself, Fly and Liz made a trip down to join in with the ICC at Bicton Arena last weekend and had lots of fun doing the affiliated PSG and INT 1 classes on each day.

We originally planned to do keysoe Premier League, However I felt this was more beneficial to go and get more confidence in the arena at the new level with no pressure and the objective was achieved.

A very tense and excited fly on the first day , However we managed to get through a clean PSG with a 69+% and then we did the INT 1 with littered mistakes throughout, however I was still pleased with a 64+% and lots of positive comments from the judge.

Day two was a lot calmer and this showed with our results which we improved with a 70% in the PSG and a 67+% in the INT 1.

Making us feel excited to see how we can progress on this during the summer , And now aiming for Hickstead PL this coming week.

Thankyou to the ongoing support from everyone, very proud to be wearing Fenlandz Health] and Andy Thomas Physio] saddle cloths as both brands who are very supportive of my dressage journey and it was lovely to see so many familar faces at the show.

Long time , No post!!

It's been a busy few months with a variety of clients lovely horses in for backing and schooling, Time that I've been taking to focus on them.

However competition season has certainly started. Fly has been back in action. With the winter regionals which were fairly succeful , unfortunately just missing out on qualifying for the winter championships.

However we've pushed on with his condoning and strengthening , And last week we went to Wellington to attempt our first Inter 1, which went very well with a 71+% 😁🐎😍

A very confidence giving round which we both enjoyed from the second we went down the centre line, making me very excited to be heading back out to another show very soon.

Of course I couldn't do it without the support of everyone involved, Thankyou!

Better late than never post 😅

Last week I took Dragonfly VCG out to West Wilts Equestrian centre with trainer Carol Parsons.

We did the advanced medium 96 and the PSG,
Gaining two PB scores of 71+% in both tests!!

A big improvement in the PSG test for sure, A very happy owner, rider, trainer moment and we're already looking forwards to our next show coming this week.

Of course a big thank you to sponsors who are a key part to keeping fly feeling his best with his

An exciting journey has begun as I am now a supported rider for Testt ®️.

A great weekend holding the Andy Thomas "Testt symmetry" clinic. We had a wide variety of horses which was lovely to see. A little disappointed that we had to cancel the second half of the Sunday clinic due to the amount of rain we had causing the roads to be flooded and making the yard completely inaccessible.

Thank you everyone who did make it and keep an eye out for the next clinic!! Fingers crossed the weather is on our side next time!! 🐎🌧☔

Keysoe CDI 3* 2021

🎬 That's a wrap on my U25 Grand Prix experience.

It takes me a few days to sit down, watch my tests back and reflect on the whole show.

I know that I can be a little too competitive and in the moment I can get frustrated with myself and demoralized by the results but luckily I have a great bunch of people surrounding me after my tests that can put everything back into perspective and tell me to shut up!!

At times I feel they would probably like to hit my head up against a brick wall 😅🤣

Sunny was a good boy in all three tests, Yes a few mistakes in each but overall a good performance in all. I am eternally grateful to liz for supporting my journey in becoming an international dressage rider and allowing me to go to these shows on sunny.

We know he has his quirks and the judges quite rightly have too mark him down, therefore my overall result is not always the best.

But what I am taking away from the ride on sunny is the massive amount of knowledge and experience that I am gaining on him and then being able to transfer these skills onto the other horses I ride.

Sunny is 18 now and we're lucky too be able to compete him at this level. He has relatively low milage for a horse of his age and we are looking forwards to having fun in moving up to the senior Grand Prix and I think we may be having some fun with the music classes as well!! 🎶

I will stop waffling on now, But I have to say a massive thank you to everyone in the support team, without whom myself and sunny wouldn't be able to go down those centre lines in the first place!!

23/09/2021

Somerford show report number two!!

So it was a quick change over from Sunny coming home on the Thursday evening and back up to the Nationals with second horse Fly on the Friday!

Unfortunately during the Nationals Liz was on holiday, So this time I was lucky to have Carol Parsons drive ,groom and warm us up.

Fly had a lovely stretching session on Friday when we arrived, Again lovely facilities and everyone was so welcome.

We had an early start and again another arena walk, The weather wasn't so generous this time .🌧☔💧

Anyway this time we were in the main arena, Something I wasn't sure whether fly could cope with as he is quite a hot head. The warm up was a little tricky as he did get a little tense but we managed to calm him down again just before it was our time to go in.

Surprisingly Fly did me proud, I was the one to let the side down this time!! 🙄 We were trending on 68% for the trot work and top ten but the walk isn't the best, Something I am currently trying to improve. However I was happy with the pirouettes.

Then in the canter section I made a big mistake in the canter serpentine with the flying changes over the centre line. A little too expensive to be having at nationals to become top ten but I was proud he managed to stay fairly calm with little tension creeping further in as the test went along.

This was a big ask for him and again this was his biggest show to date. So overall we were very happy and again the judges could see the huge potential for the future 😁

I Am proud to say that both horses are powered by my sponsor
We have been using epiitalis gel on both Sunny and Fly for many years now and I am very grateful for their ongoing support.

A massive thank you to everyone else on the support team who make these dreams come true!!
Let's hope next year we can qualify again!!

And one more thank you to Jemima who held the fought for me whilst I was away during the Nationals. Making my life easier so I could focus solely on the competition. 😄

Finally a moment to sit and reflect on my trip to the BD Summer National championships

Off I went to Nationals on the Wednesday with Sunny in tow and luckily Louise Crutcher came to our aid to drive us up there 😁

I have been to Somerford Park a couple of times now and I must say they did a sublime job at holding the nationals!! Everything was just brilliant. Everyone I spoke too agreed that the drive was worth it!!

It was a little chaotic in the stables but sunny settled well. The next morning we did the arena walk and he didn't bat an eye lid. But I thought as it's a big occasion let's just take him out anyway to stretch his legs as we weren't on until the afternoon.

So the afternoon comes and Sunny warmed up well. Everything we had worked on at home I was making sure we did in preparation for our test.

However unfortunately just as we were going into the arena Sunny had overcome with nerves, excitement and tension.

I tried very hard to make best of what he gave me in the moment, But it was probably one of my worst tests to date on him and it was at one of our biggest shows we've done together.
😱😫😰

I knew my test was a shocker and this reflected in the score of 56%, whoops....

I was gutted and upset for myself, sunny and everyone else involved in making us get there.
But horses have their own brains and he just found the atmosphere a little too much that day.

The only comfort to take from the situation was that my tests sheets were lovely, Sympathetic and they understood he became nervous and could see he is a talented horse. He just couldn't show his true potential on the day.

Life moves on, Sunny has had a little break and we're now back to work. I've got to stay focused and optimistic that we will come back better from this as we do have an exciting show.coming up!!

As ever thank-you to the best, Most supportive owner , Trainer Carol Parsons and thank-you again to Louise for coming to the rescue to drive , groom and generally be amazing!!

Of course I couldn't have been there without the support crew behind us!! Thank you!!
