The same but different ...

So last week I got an email asking if I had a big ring 😳

SB wanted a couple of tapered lurcher collars, but the D ring that I normally use aren't big enough to use a panic snap with.

So I used a bigger round ring, which has worked really well, and will also allow a slip lead to be threaded through much easier in the dark/rain/cold

There is a 2 gram difference in the weight between the D ring and the O ring so don't be the dick that replies "they look massive and heavy" 2 grammes is nothing unless it's a Friday night 😃

These are the same price as normal tapered lurcher collars.

£25 + postage (which is now a shocking £5, actually £6.19, but I charge £5)

Collars come with 2 slip leads.

I can't help but wonder though, how am I going to get to 20,000 😁

I reckon a little "like and share" might take it some way towards that.

A busy Bank Holiday weekend!

These were a repeat order from a customer from around 10 - 15 years ago, his original gear is still going (very) strong but he wanted something new for 2 Dogue De Bordeaux pups.

So I did what I do, got my head down and worked until they were finished, there's around 25 odd hours work in these maybe a bit more.

I don't take many orders for collars with lettering these days, they take a lot of time to make, the lettering is cut out of the top layer not embroidered.

Thank you for the order Den, VERY much appreciated, I hope you're as pleased with them as I am.

This is the sh*te I was talking about, people buying couple sets being sold as "solid brass"...

If they look like this then they aren't brass.

Buy from wherever you like, but be warned, you get what you pay for.

As always, if I say they are best quality solid brass fittings, then that's exactly what they are, the very best quality I can buy.

I do also make a few terrier sets with nickel plated fittings, they are cheaper, I don't sell them as anything they aren't though.

"To win, you do it better"

Saw my harnesses copied on another page recently, the harnesses I've been making and improving for nearly 20 years, the harnesses that I know have been on some of the strongest, hardest hitting dogs around, in constant use for well over 15 years.

I like that though, it inspires me to make them better.

Have been asked many times for handles on agitation harnesses, but didn't put any time into developing them, I always got stuck with sewing them across the back strap which I wasn't happy with.

Until today ... The handle on this one is part of the whole top strap, it can NOT fail, it is built into the top part with only 1 join which is then hidden well underneath with a LOT of stitching holding it, you will be on your arse with the dog dragging you before this ever fails.

So, they won't be cheap, but when you've had it for a few years it won't seem so expensive.

For the cranks informing me that horses and dogs aren't the same 🙄 Yes, I knew that, these are for a specific purpose and were ordered by an equine professional for expert use, I'm not advocating them for use for every horse (or at all), the leads used to attach the horse have a breakaway, the collar doesn't need one, so maybe you could concentrate on your Cats Protection League page in future 🤫

Cross body, "handsfree" lead, 1" wide by approx 7 foot long when laid out, the lead from the body to the dog is 3 foot.

Brass d ring at around 4 foot to allow the lead to be used as a cross body lead, leaving your hands free.

I can of course custom make these in other colours, with different spacing of d rings etc.
