Continuing our National Pet Month series, we are raising awareness of the role of pet care specialists.

🐾Lip licking in dogs🐾

Appreciating that your dog may be stressed or anxious when you see this allows you to help them out by putting more distance between them and whatever they are worried about. Supporting your dog in this way will help them calm and they will see you as a great protector who will look after them during difficult times. This will reduce their anxiety levels further, giving them a better life.

For further help for anxious dogs, do remember to speak with your local Puppy School Tutor and if needed they may refer you to a Clinical Animal Behaviourist using The Animal Behaviour and Training Council website www.abtc.org.uk

🥵 𝗧𝗢𝗢 𝗛𝗢𝗧 🥵

This next week is set to reach silly temperatures (as if today wasn't hot enough🌡)!

There really is no need to take any risk when it comes to your puppy or dog - their welfare and health should always be put first.

I'll be cancelling walks this week and offering pop in's as an alternative. I'll be cancelling classes and 121's or transferring online where appropriate. All clients that I'm due to see this week have already been contacted to prepare them for possible alternative arrangements.

A puppy or dog will never suffer under the care of Happy Buddies and they'll never be put at risk.

All dogs are at risk from extreme heat but especially those who are elderly, under 6 months of age, obese and brachycephalic breeds (short snouts). 🐶

If you're venturing out with your dog this weekend please remember, take them only early in the morning or in the evening when the ground is cooler. This will not only protect their paws but be more comfortable for them.

It's always a good idea to also check whether dogs are welcome wherever you are headed.
Some public parks and beaches may have Public Space Protection Orders or Dog Control Orders at certain times of the year, so do check ahead to avoid any unnecessary journeys in this heat.

This CPD accredited course is aimed towards pet owners and pet professionals alike, and covers all important topics such as how to examine a dog, vital signs, administering CPR, dealing with seizures, injuries and bleeding, fractures, shock, bites and stings, burns, poisoning, choking and more. The Dog First Aid certificate will be valid for three years. This cost of the course is £60.
