Excuse the radio silence over the last few months! Between busy physio clinics, home visits, lecturing and home life I have been kept working hard and completely ignoring social media.
-
Due to College term time coming to a close and lecturing work coming to an end soon I will have additional mid-week availability for home visits across the Antrim/L’Derry/North Coast/Mid-Ulster areas for new and existing clients.
-
July is shaping up to be a busy month so if you are interested in physiotherapy for you small animals please get in touch sooner rather than later!

-
(P.S enjoy a small collection of pictures to show I have actually been working over my silence and not slacking 😅!)

Brussels was found to have a bit of a poorly leg today, with some localised swelling and reduction in movement, so she had a nice warm bath and some Class 3B laser to try help ease some aches and pains.

❣️Valentines day done right!❣️
-
This morning, I visited the Mid-Ulster area where I spent some time carrying out physiotherapy treatment for a few dogs and horses before spending a much needed afternoon off with my own boy, Ralph.
-
I have limited home visit availability from now until Easter so if you are interested in your animal receiving physiotherapy treatment then please get in touch. I think I have now caught up and replied to everyone who had gotten in touch over the last few days… if you have not heard back - I may have missed your message so please send me a gentle reminder and I will get back to you as soon as possible!

A massive thank you to Caroline, Patrice and the amazing team of dogs for taking time to visit the Level 3 and HND Animal Management students at NRC and giving them an insight into the use of dogs and their importance within conservation.

They absolutely loved watching the demonstrations by the most perfect models, Monty and Jasper as well as getting cuddles from Rufus and Ziba 🐶

Don’t be fooled by this sweet face… Rocky thinks he comes to physio sessions to play and mess around 😆
-
Rocky has been a regular for quite some time now where he receives a blend of hydrotherapy (with the team at ) and physiotherapy with myself. Rocky suffers from elbow dysplasia which is a condition involving some developmental abnormalities within the elbow. His rehabilitation has been quite the success so far as he is off long-term pain medication and coping very well.

Safe to say Rufus thoroughly enjoyed his massage today 🥰
-
Rufus is a 12 year old Airedale Terrier who has recently started some physiotherapy sessions with myself to help ease a few aches and pains related to some degenerative changes associated with growing older. He presented quite nervous and weary during his first session a couple of weeks ago however, today seemed far more relaxed and comfortable during his second session. Rufus received a combination of Class 3B laser therapy, massage and stretching and has made considerable progress for how few sessions he has had!

🐻 TYSON 🐻
-
Tyson came dressed in his best for his physiotherapy review after receiving a blend of hydrotherapy and physiotherapy treatment for a poorly broken limb.
-
Tyson had to have surgery on his forelimb and initially, he presented non-weight bearing on this leg which led to the lose of muscle mass and some other compensatory issues. He received hydrotherapy, PEMFT treatment, massage and remedial exercise to help aid a successful recovery where he is now able to comfortably use his leg again and bound about the house like normal!

This is Millie 🥰
-
Millie is an older girl who attends regular physio to help with some aches and pains associated with joint degeneration. She receives a blend of Class 3 Laser therapy, massage and stretching to reduce muscular tension and encourage a more fluid range of motion of her limbs.
-
Last year Millie suffered with some illnesses which made her quite poorly so it’s great to see her on her feet and back to her normal self again! 🐶✨

✨BRACING✨
-
Froddo joined us on Saturday to have his new custom brace made by the very talented Bob.
-
Froddo is a regular with us at
and undergoes regular physiotherapy with myself and hydrotherapy sessions. However, recently it was noted that he was starting to struggle a bit more than usual. Unfortunately, Froddo struggles with bilateral elbow arthritis and some other compensatory issues which means he can possess hyperextended carpus’ on his forelimbs, particularly his left front limb. We hope that with a bit of extra support, his brace will help ease the pressure and aid in promoting a more natural stance which in turn will make him more comfortable.
-
The pictures below show the difference the bracing can make in terms of promoting a more natural angulation of his forelimbs, but also a more neutral spinal position and hindlimb stance - although the brace is only applied to the front limb, the whole body is positively affected!

Fully back in the swing of things after the Christmas break now after a busy day treating 9 lovely animals which possessed a range of orthopaedic conditions. The unfortunate thing about being so busy is that I always forget to take pictures and only managed to get Miss Daisy and handsome Bowie receiving their laser treatment today! 🐶

The dreaded ✨C✨ word 😅

Christmas is fast approaching and we’re on the countdown in the number of weeks left for appointments before some time off. 🔹PRICING UPDATE🔹

Due to the rising costs of fuel, other economic stresses and CPD/further training I unfortunately, have to increase the cost of the services I provide. I’ve tried to keep this as minimal as possible as I pride myself in trying to provide a quality canine rehabilitation service which is accessible to dog owners will all types of budget.

In order to further my skill set and keep up to date with associating bodies I am required to carry out frequent continued professional development over the year which can come at quite a cost. As part of trying to be as accessible for owners as possible I can cover quite a lot of miles during the week which, alongside, equipment servicing and renewal can add up quite quickly.

Price increase will come into affect November 1st 2023.

For rescue centres, I will continue to run sessions for dogs at a discounted rate as normal. Please get in touch for more information.

I would like the thank everyone that continues to support me and keep me so busy! As a small business it is so appreciated and I’m so glad I continue to grow each year!

Thanks,
Amy x

Teddy definitely lives up to his name 🧸🥰

Teddy recently attended a physiotherapeutic review where we noted the amazing progress he has made throughout his conservative management case! Teddy’s posture has much improved, and we found an increase in muscle mass and range of motion of the hind limbs which was aided by a course of hydrotherapy at and a home plan consisting of remedial exercises💪🏻

🥇Kim came for a post-agility treatment after an amazing performance last weekend🥇

After missing half of the agility season last year due to injury, Kim commenced some physiotherapy sessions with myself to address some aches and pains associated with a soft tissue injury of the shoulder. Combined treatment of Class 3B Laser, massage, mobilisation and a remedial exercise regime carried out by her owner at home has allowed her to recover well and get back out competing happily again.

She has had a great season this summer, and although recovered from injury, still attends regular physiotherapy sessions (as you can see, she loves her massage!) to keep her muscles and joints healthy to perform the best she can 🤩

Something that we hear all too often unfortunately!

Limping or an abnormal gait is a key sign of discomfort, dysfunction or pain and is all too often something that is over looked.

Yes, Cat The Vet !!! We couldn't agree more!

'He's limping, but he's not in pain!'

This is something we hear, a lot.

And unfortunately it can lead to a huge amount of pets carrying on with chronic pain without the necessary medicinal or multimodal support.

An article by Vet Help Direct helps to explain more about where this confusion stems from:

Limping and stiffness can be caused by several different conditions. The most common being acute injuries and skeletal issues like osteoarthritis (OA). As many as 80% of dogs over 8 years old have OA in one or more joints.

The way that our dogs display pain may not be how we expect; limping usually equals pain or discomfort!

The article covers:

➡️ The difference between acute and chronic pain
➡️ If your pet will ever limp without pain
➡️ Treatment options

Some smiley faces from the bank holiday weekend 🐶🥰

Apologies for the radio silence over social media recently! I have been incredibly busy treating lots of lovely dogs, both in clinic and home visits, teaching and making most of the dry weather. Unfortunately for me, there is no day off today, however, it is being spent treating and spending time with some lovely dogs (which is still a win 😍)

I hope everyone enjoys their sunny bank holiday off! 🐾
