Ten-year-old Timmie is in the care of Celia Hammond Animal Trust β Lewisham, who rehome cats and kittens in East and West London and West Kent. She came to them as an abandoned cat suffering with a large ulcerated mass protruding from her ear canal. Her owners had apparently moved away two to three years previously and left Timmie behind, since then sheβd been sleeping in a shelter in a neighbourβs garden where she was being fed.
The shelter tells us: βOur vets operated to remove as much of the mass as they could and sent it off for analysis. The result was an infected cancerous tumour of the ceruminous glands, treatment could be further surgery to completely remove the rest of the tumour. Timmie's initial surgery site had healed really well and she was already so much happier that our vets opted for further surgery, with infection now under control following a course of antibiotics Timmie underwent TECA surgery to remove the ear canal and the rest of the tumour.
βThis surgery appears to have been successful, although Timmie is now deaf where her right ear was and has suffered some hopefully temporary nerve damage to her right eye lid so is having eye drops to keep her right eye lubricated. Timmie is a sweet-natured cat who will require an adult indoor home. She can live with other cats.β
