Hoof Health Tip!

Little cracks and chips in your horses hoof horn can harbour bacteria. If there are little nooks and crannies for the bacteria get in to, it can "eat" into the healthy horn making the crack worse before it has a chance to grow out.

Top dressing the wall high up with a rasp would get rid of it but this can weaken the hoof wall by making it thin. So what is best to do? 🤔

A good way to manage a little crack like this between professional trims is to use a sanding block to smooth out any loose or flaky bits of horn and then apply a natural anti bacterial product like Tea Tree oil or a good hoof clay (I love the Horse Leads products).

I have the honour of making something beautiful for the daughter of the great Show Champion Shaan an Indian Marwari Horse.
I had a chat with her owner who is going to India in February so my little fingers are chattering.
I would also like to tell you that I have travelled across India and was amazed and humbled by how much all animals are interwined and graced in peoples lives, no matter how little they had, they shared it.
Non of the animals were afraid of humans or the human world, this tells you a lot.

Ash wanted a knotless halter and I was not ready to do the full knotless but we made a compromise and kept the 3 segment nose band knotless.
I have added it to the website site as a choice... I will get there with the full knotless eventually on the website but time is not on my side!

A New Product Just for You!

I’ve been struggling with an intense, unexplained itchy rash all over my body for over a year now. I’ve tried everything—from steroids and antibiotics to skin biopsies and visits to three different dermatologists. I’ve even followed food elimination diets and undergone immune response tests.

Completely knotless.. I did some other designs with knotless nosebands but this, apart from the fiador knot is competely knotless and no mean feat to complete, but it was requested and so it goes👌

Dell lives on the side of a common, fabulous varied terrain and a very enriching environment. Her hooves have to put up with a lot and they do but its only when I bring her in that she can pick up a stone/grit in the whiteline that gets embedded, causes separation and problems. The line you see here is where the sole as become detached due to grit but this is now only superficial and will rasp out in time. I am rasping weekly to get it down and out as soon as possible and reduce flaring.
So while that is happening I pack the gap with Hoof Guard which protects and creates a bug free environment.
If I did not do this then more stones would get in and we would have an abscess.
The Hoof Guard is made up of cleansing and bug busting minerals together with natural fibres that help it to adhere.
The Hoof Guard will still be in the hoof tomorrow.
So top tip... flush, pick out, dry and apply Hoof Guard to any crevices that may be compromised. It will save you in the long term.

We dont do show - shine or shampoos and glossy oils but what we do is put all our energy and expertise into products that help regain health. Here is Boo from last winter. Boo's owner had struggled for 6 years as Boo was prone to Mud Fever. Boo's owner had tried all creams, steroids etc and was so pleased with the results in just one week.
