Great day at Crufts on Saturday. I really enjoy seeing the different breeds and watching people just having fun with their dogs. It was lovely to see how many people were giving their dogs regular breaks on the stands and not forcing the dogs to greet people if they wanted space. 🐾

This is Teddy and Cooper, who I visited recently. Both fantastic little characters. Having two dogs in the home can be a real joy, but it can also be stressful, especially for an older dog if a puppy who wants to play has moved into their nice calm home. As you can see from the picture, these two were well on the way to a great relationship with ongoing support from their wonderful family. 🐾🥰

Congratulations to Rosey who graduated from the Home School Course this morning. 👏

Rosey suffered from car sickness and can get over excited with other dogs in the home. During our first session we noticed that she was showing signs of anxiety when just sitting in the car, so we worked on this and now she can do short journeys without sickness. 🥳

Today she showed she was starting to read other dogs body language. Being able to do this will really help with other dogs in the home. As she is still so young, she will continue to need some support to make ‘good’ choices, but she is building great foundations which is so important when helping puppies learn life skills.

Well done Rosey and her wonderful family. 👏🥳🐾

Here is the beautiful Ruby who graduated last week from the Home School Course. Ruby found other dogs very exciting at the start of the course, but by session 4 she was playing nicely and greeting them appropriately.

Freework is something I suggest to a few clients with their dogs.

As I practice it more, I am seeing huge benefits to how it helps dogs of all ages move, gain confidence and also how much it can help with building relationships. Sometimes we spend so much time training and ‘doing’ with our dogs, it’s so lovely to just slow down and enjoy just being with them.

Here is a video of me and Robyn yesterday. Robyn is 13 now and actually enjoys this more than a walk some days.

This beautiful boy is Ziggy. I met Ziggy a year ago when his family was struggling with his behaviour. Ziggy would regularly guard items, struggled with any changes in the home, would become very stressed easily on walks and was generally challenging to live with.

His wonderful family have worked so hard to help Ziggy and today we went for a lovely walk in the sunshine. Zippy was noticeably calmer, happier and the change in the relationship was evident to see. It is likely Ziggy will always need support in some areas of his life, but today I learnt that they can now have visitors and he even has been to the pub! These type of activities were not possible last year as Ziggy really struggled, so these are huge achievements!

Ziggy is a true example that working with your dog, having realistic expectations and supporting them through management, training, trust and confidence building exercises, can improve life for all involved. They make the difficult days easier to manage and the good days amazing!

Well done Ziggy and his fabulous family.❤️

It’s been a busy week at Paws and Patience. Here are some of some of the incredible dogs that have had sessions this week. Rodney and Milo both graduated their Home School Courses. Both dogs and their families have worked so hard over the last few weeks, and have started to learn and practice so many life skills. Lupo had a session in the park to help him start to overcome his fear of children. He did so well, and although it will take a few visits to the park to practice, his wonderful family now know how to help him and could see a difference already. Well done all. 🥳❤️🐾

I have been quiet on social media recently but have been busy with sessions and working on exciting 2023 plans! It has been a pleasure working with so many dogs and their families this year and I look forward to seeing many of you in 2023.

We are all wrapped up for Christmas now, so have a very Merry Christmas and see you on 3rd January.

It’s so great to be back!

This is Sunny who completed the Home School Course earlier this year.

Sunny has been struggling at times to manage his emotions when he feels frustrated.

We had a fantastic session and his lovely family now have a plan to help him and make walks more enjoyable for all going forward.

If you have an adolescent dog and are struggling with any behaviours, please get in touch. This life stage can be a challenging time for both dogs and their humans and a few tips can go long way to make sure these new behaviours don’t become life long habits.

As many of you know, I took a few months off for medical reasons and to prepare for my wedding. I am delighted to say all went well and Robyn was a fantastic ‘dog of honour’.

We are now back and excited to work with new and previous clients, so please let anyone know that is looking for a dog trainer.

Kobi is the latest graduate of the Home School Course. 👏 At the start of the course, he struggled with confidence out and about and when meeting other dogs. His amazing family have worked hard to allow him to gain confidence in his own time and giving him exposure without putting any pressure on him. Today he was off lead, recalling perfectly and happily meeting other dogs. Such a difference in just a few weeks! Well done Kobi! 🥳🐾
