The local tick population seems to have exploded recently due to the warmer weather, and it still being damp at ground level.
I've found several ticks crawling on dogs coats and removed a few embedded this week alone.

At this time of year it's important to make sure your dog's/cat's flea and tick treatment is up to date, and to be vigilant for ticks that are more resistant to treatments, especially towards the end of the protection period. After removing a tick it is best practice to destroy it rather than leave it alive in a bin.

The SW of England is a hotspot for ticks carrying Lyme Disease. If you have been bitten and notice a rash around the bite area, seek medical attention as soon as possible. For more information visit:
