Meet Megan the tabby! 😸

Megan is a shy, very sweet girl who was initially nervous when her family went away and spent her time watching her cat sitter Sophy from afar.

🐈 As time went on, Megan could see how her brother and sisters were enjoying the love and fun from their sitter, so decided to come and explore for herself.

We finished our visits with Megan enjoying tickles and chasing her siblings about, no longer on supervision duty! We love seeing cats warm up to our sitters and feel comfortable in their home.

Some cats may take a little longer than others, but it's very rewarding when they do 💖

Tree update! 🌳

Using Ecologi, we plant trees around the world and in the UK, fund community and renewable projects.

We've now planted 32 trees, supporting the prevention of just over 2 tonnes of CO2e, which is the equivalent of 4,987 miles driven in a car 🚗

We can't wait to share our next update when our forest will have grown even more 💚

This week we're introducing Rusty! 😸

Rusty is a very sweet and gentle cat who we recently took care of in Ollerton. Although she's a quiet cat, every time our cat sitter Sophy turned around, Rusty was there!

One of the things Sophy loved about Rusty was her happy dance she would perform with her back paws - seeing reverse biscuits is adorable! 🐾

Amazing news - Teddy and Bear have been adopted! 🐾

Teddy and Bear were the first cats we had the joy of sponsoring at the National Cats Protection Centre. They are a gorgeous pair of 11 month old Bengals as you can see 😸

We were so pleased to see on our dashboard that they have found their forever homes and we now welcome Lexi into our pen on her journey to her new home 🏡

Do we send updates on our visits while you're away? 🤔

Absolutely! As much as we’re there to care for your cat, we’re also there to offer you peace of mind while you’re away and keep you up to date on your cat's antics! 🧶

Our cat sitters will always send you an update after each visit, which can include photos and videos. We do this using Time to Pet, which is an easy to use app that allows you to keep your cat details up to date, let us know about changes in their routine and book visits.

It's not October yet, but that won't stop us introducing Pumpkin! 🎃

Pumpkin is a very relaxed cat, whose curiosity of her cat sitter, Sophy, seemed to grow as time went on. At first Pumpkin was the quietest of her 3 other siblings and was content watching from afar. 👀

She began to chat with Sophy and then decided to start tapping her sisters! 🐾 Pumpkin was also an expert litter tray cleaning supervisor, and even took the role of quality checking which was very helpful for her sitter!

She was a delight to care for and we look forward to seeing her again 😸

Microchipping cats is now a legal requirement! 🐾

From today (Monday 10th June 2024) all pet/owned cats, both outdoor and indoor, must be microchipped before they reach the age of 20 weeks.

Cats are great explorers and can usually find their way home, but if they get lost, a microchip is a really effective way of reuniting a cat with their family and ensures they can be contacted if there's an emergency.

If your cat is already microchipped, make sure the details are up to date including your address and contact number, and don't panic if you haven't been able to microchip before today, you still have 21 days to book in a visit with your Vet 🐈✔

Say hello to Harry (and his paw!) 😻

Harry is an adorable cat who constantly won his cat sitter's devotion, through his chatter, shadowing and mostly, the stretched out paw!

Even when Sophy was preparing food, feeding fish, cleaning litter trays or washing bowls, Harry's paw would appear and our sitter had to stop everything to give him some love ❤

Harry's owner was very happy to hear he was behaving how he usually does when she's at home.

We can't wait to visit Harry and his 3 siblings again! 🐾

As experienced cat sitters and cat owners, we're well attuned to the sound of the impending hairball!

Here are some tips on reducing the chances of hairballs in your cats:

Brush your cat regularly: This helps pick up loose hair that your cat could otherwise ingest while grooming. There are a variety of cat brushes and gloves to suit your cat, though we understand some cats insist on self-grooming!

Keep your cat hydrated: Provide your cat with plenty of places to drink water - keeping hydrated supports hair passage through your cat's system.

Hairball treatments: There are a variety of treats and paste products available that aim to reduce or prevent the formation of hairballs in your cat.

Cat grass: This is a great, natural way of helping prevent the formation of hairballs in your cat's stomach - it also doubles as a tasty treat!

If your cat does struggle with hairballs, we'd always recommend getting in touch with your local veterinary practice to get some advice.

Say hello to Blue! 😸💙

Over the Easter break, we took care of some lovely cats in Knutsford while their owners enjoyed a break away from their homes.

Blue is a beautifully coated tortoiseshell cat, who immediately attached to our cat sitter, Sophy.

They shared lots of cuddles and importantly for Blue, lots of playtime! Blue loves jumping up her scratching post and zooming through her tunnel.

Throughout our time with Blue, her owner was kept up to date with lots of photos and some video too after each visit.

Sophy said she can't wait to see Blue again! 😻

How do we know the right size scratching post for our cat? 🤔

Choosing the right scratching post for your cat is key to keeping your furniture safe and your cat happy. But with so many sizes available, how do you know which one is best?

Here's a quick guide to scratching post sizes:

Kittens: Start small with a post around 18-24 inches tall. Kittens grow fast, so consider a post that's expandable or has replaceable scratching surfaces.

Adult cats: Aim for a post that allows your cat to stretch fully from head to back paws. Generally, this is around 30-50 inches tall for most breeds.

Multi-cat households: Multiple scratching posts are ideal, especially in different areas of the house. Consider taller posts with multiple scratching surfaces to accommodate playtime and individual preferences.

Bonus tip: Observe your cat's scratching habits! Do they prefer vertical or horizontal surfaces? Do they like certain materials? Choose a post that caters to their style for maximum scratching satisfaction! 😻

Meet Cat Sitters of Knutsford founder, Sophy! 👋

Sophy has always had a passion for all things cats. From a young age, she's had cats in her family and everyone who knew her caught on quite early she had a love for cats. Jump forward to now, Sophy has thousands of cat photos on her phone (don't all cat parents?) and has equally performed over 1000 cat sitting visits in her experience.

In that experience, she has met a variety of cats, all with very unique personalities, ranging from super shy, to pouncing and playful. She absolutely adores them all! 🐈‍⬛

Outside of cats, Sophy is a fan of cars, motorsport and gardening. She also loves music and has a wide taste in most genres, though she would say that 80s music is her favourite. 🎵

Sophy very much looks forward to meeting you and your cat!

Have you met the Fryer's Garden Centre cats? 🪴

If you haven't had the chance, meet Pebbles and Boris! We've had a few trips to the Garden Centre now and it's great to see them both thriving.

Pebbles is a lovely grey cat, who travelled to the garden centre one day and decided to stay. She's quite playful, but on her own terms of course. Last time we visited, she was chasing David, one of our cat sitters, around the outside plants. 🐈‍⬛

Boris is a very sweet black cat and he likes to camp out by the bird feed - especially the fat balls!

They get lots of attention and make great company at the garden centre.

Next time you're passing, make sure to say hi to the duo! 👋

Here's our top three tips to keep your cat in great health:

💚 Regular check-up visits with your Vet: Keeping our cats health well and maintained can be greatly supported by our trusted Veterinarians. Visiting the Vet is good for peace of mind, but also as a preventative measure - as the early detection of illness can make a big difference in the outcome for your cat. As a bonus we can also keep up to date on vaccinations which further protects your cat, especially if they're an outdoor cat, or you have contact with other animals.

💚 Provide a stimulating environment: Both physically and mentally! Cats are very intelligent animals with hunter instincts and it's important they have an outlet for this. It can be in the form of puzzle toys or feeders and treat dispensers to stimulate their mind. Additionally, giving cats plenty of toys, scratching posts and playtime is essential in working their muscles, keeping their claws in shape and giving them a workout.

💚 Ensure they always have fresh supplies: Litter, cat food, water and toys. Keeping the supplies our cat uses topped up, clean and fresh is vital in their health. Additionally make sure there are multiple options of water bowls around your home, to make sure they're keeping hydrated.

During our cat sitting visits, we always have the health of your cat in mind, from washing bowls to raising if they're feeling poorly with you.
