Bella took me on a real roller coaster and I was just 18 when she came home at a mere 5 weeks old. I made the heartbreaking decision to have her PTS at just 2 and 1/2 years old, she totally changed my life. Edition Dog Live was a BLAST!
EDL last Sunday was amazing! I loved doing my talk and also a display on KC Rally, what was even better was two of my maven crew members were doing the display with me with their dogs - I could not be prouder!

Last years event saw the launch of the Maven Crew (my wonderful little membership community) and we have covered so so much over that time, weekly short videos covering things like settle training, dog sports foundations, leave it, tricks and so much more!

We have twice weekly training calls where everyone can work on what they want for three x five minute sessions and everyone stays accountable, getting feedback and tips from me and also the most important thing is that they make progress on what they are working on because they are in there putting the work it... in bitesize chunks around busy lives.

The chat and support in the group is amazing, we have members who are wanting to make progress with normal things like loose lead walking, we have trainers in there as well as dog sports competitors, first time dog owners and breeders. Members with one dog and members with five - and all get what they need out of it!

The 1st picture really makes me smile, some of the wonderful members of the crew all finally getting to meet each other in person at last weekends event - and it was like a group of old friends!

To celebrate a whole year of the amazing community that is the Maven Crew I am offering you the chance to join us, for free for a whole month! It will ask for payment details but payment wont be taken until 30days after you sign up but you can cancel at any time before then if you decide it's not for you - no problem! This is a community on whatsapp and in september we are working on skills for out on walks, we have twice weekly turbo training calls, a zoom catch up call and chat and of course all the wonderful discussions and encouragement throughout the month within the group.

Edition Dog Live at Stoneleigh Sunday 25th August
I feel so fortunate and honoured to have been asked back to EDL for the third year running.

I'll be doing a introduction to Rally Display in the live/main arena (3pm), a talk on keeping older dogs happy (10am) in the talks area. Between that I can be found solving problems for pet owners in the Trainers Hub!

I have been writing monthly articles for Edition Dog Magazine since it began, thats 6 years now!

I am also offering some amazing packages to work with me to celebrate, including an invite to the Maven crew at the low low price, plus for just a little extra I'm also launching a new project that will compliment the crew perfectly - imagine that, accountability, support and the knowledge and skills you need...

Eek! It's out there

I woke this morning, with such mixed emotions...my very own podcast, the first three episodes went live through the night and I was feeling excited, nervous and anxious! All of the emotions rolled into one.

Then the little voice in my head reminding me why I wanted to do this. Sharing my mess ups and mistakes with others to help them feel better, to ease the burden and guilt. There are many things I have done that I'm not proud of, that are scary to share but sharing these and what I have learnt from them can only help others. Not only my mistakes but other pet professional's mistakes too.

So I did a thing! 🫣🥳🎙

I am sharing my experience, mistakes and stories for pet owners and pet professionals wanting to understand our canine friends better and in turn ourselves. Sharing that even the experts (mavens) make mistakes, how to reduce the guilt burden creating a clearer head when sharing our lives with dogs.

Some are solo shows, some with guests and I have already recorded with some amazing dog people! More amazing guests booked in over the coming weeks!

There is a dog sport for everyone!

Truly there is, some you don't even need to leave your back garden for, and these are brilliant for those with reactive or sensitive dogs.

I had a client who came to me for help with her reactive girl back in 2020, signed up for my reactive rover classes... then of course as we were about to start the course, the dreaded hit and we were in lockdown. She joined for every one of my online sessions instead and then once the lockdowns lifted we had a couple of one to ones and also she joined the reactive rover group sessions. I knew that she was competing in Rally online (filming rounds in her back garden) and was continued to make progress with a girl who was far from straightforward or easy. I moved areas and then was delighted to find when judging rally online last month to find them working in level 6! The highest level, not just competing but absolutely smashing it.

What was even nicer was then to see her and her girl work in the flesh in a real life competition last week, in a busy environment, lots of dogs, an echoing venue and watching them was truly magical. Massive congratulations and well done, you know who you are and I know just how many hours, blood sweat and tears went into getting to this point!

You all know I have a passion for working with reactivity, however today isn't the day for me to go on about giving them a focus and also you is an invaluable tool to have - today is about dog sports!

In two of my books there are pages upon pages on all the different dog sports (that reminds me, more sports than last published so updates needed there too!) and lots of different experts for each sport explaining what they are and how they work.

In the past I have done breed showing both handling for others and showing my own. I have attended workshops in heelwork to music/freestyle (like Lucy and the gang recently on BGT), working trials & scent work. I used to teach fun agility many years ago, taught KC Rally for years and I have stewarded at carriage dog competitions and working trial championships.

I currently work Mizzle in Rally, Obreedience and Mantrailing. Ripple in Rally and Obreedience.

My point is, I know I am an addict when it comes to training my dogs and sports give me an outlet for this and also goals to work towards.

You don't need to be as obsessive as me, nor span as many sports but if you would like to do more with your dog maybe it is something to consider?

I have a FREE dog sports intro challenge coming - 24-28th June. Little snappy videos for you to work on the foundations over the 5 days from home, as I said its totally free so why not see if you would like to at least start on that journey? please invite your dog mad friends to join to!
