Yesterday a lady walked up my drive carrying a small dog. `Did I know where this dog lived' she asked. Said dog did not have a collar on and so not a disc with the owners phone number. I said I would deal with it...and contacted a friend who has a chip scanner. We then had to phone the local vets - who in turn contacted the chip company. Following this they rang the owner and the owner rang my friend who had used the chip reader. So just a reminder to all dog owners, please please ensure that your dog has a collar on and a disc with his owner's phone number on. It would have saved so so much time.

Today I have some of the best friends/dogs staying. Charlie the awesome, Molly the delightful and Barnaby the love. Bailey is dropping in this afternoon and we hope it might stay dry for a bit.

At present we have a boisterous young lab who has been staying awhile now. Easter means we are full, but enquiries for later in the year keep coming in. Some lovely people and their dogs. We are just hoping for a bit of drier weather as Spring shows us her face.

I have four dogs at present, for the most part sitting under the tree in the garden...as it is far too hot to do anything else.. They all enjoy being here regardless.

There's just a couple of dogs here just now....kind of inbetween bookings. Later on today Boris goes home and another lovely dog comes for a few days. I nearly got the grass cut yesterday, but have yet to finish it - and it's raining; never mind always lots of cleaning and tidying up to do....and BH or not the phone keeps ringing. Enjoy your day, especially with your dog, they don't mind a bit of rain, it's being with you that really matters.

We are all slowly opening back up, things are going back to ‘normal’. There are many reasons why people need dog care.
Moving house, decorating, ill health, relatives staying for a couple of days? Moving house can be a stressful time for pets, people coming and going, everything moving. Familiar things all being taken away, the same chaos at the other end. It can be a lot easier on your dog to send them on a little holiday. They can relax, play and be unware of all the goings on. When everything is in place they can be introduced to the new home with your full attention. The same with decorating, strange smells, strange people. Places they can’t go. A couple of days in a quiet, loving environment here at Holidays for Dogs is much better for them, just until the paint dries.

About Us
With what has been going on or `not going on’ in recent months, you may be forgiven for thinking that Holidays for Dogs is just `not happening’. Nothing could be further from the truth.
People are not going on holidays, but dogs are visiting for day care, and day care dogs are enjoying many happy hours, often `sharing’ the company of another dog or two. If your dog would enjoy a change or maybe you need your dog to be out of the house whilst you decorate or something else do please contact us, and we will be happy to help with your query.

Having always had a love of dogs, and for many years caring for my two Lakeland Terriers, who both enjoyed long and happy lives; I started dog sitting in my home for friends and neighbours.
Why Holidays For Dogs with me, Shirley?
When my home circumstances changed I decided I would care for dogs in my home. In 2007 realising I had the room, and a secure and decent sized garden for dogs, I founded Holidays for Dogs. Since then dozens and dozens of dogs have been to stay on their holidays here.
Most bookings are returning dogs that are regarded as special friends. The dogs soon settle down and enjoy their stay, being fed their own food, and little things like having their own bed with them helps.
I am fortunate to have attracted many good dogs – with equally nice owners. My home is a happy and fun filled environment for your dog.
