We hope all your fur babies are coping well in the thunderstorm. We know and understand many pups get scared. If you have one of those nervous babies, here are some tips you could try to help comfort them.
Thunder jackets can be bought online. Here I have posted a way to make one at home. You can use a scarf or bandage for a temporary fix.
Snoods can also be bought online. If you need one now, you could make one from someone old clothes, like a shirt, or if you have a small dog, cut the toes off a sock or the leg off some leggins to slip over their head, covering their ears.
Lots of cuddles, kisses, and safety spaces for your lovely pets ❤️🐾

I know I am boring you all with it, but I'm hoping that enough people see these posts, and share them to spread them further, because today I saw way too many people road walking their dogs in 30° heat, and it breaks my heart! 💔

24°c is our cut-off temperature for walks for a reason. It simply isn't safe for the dogs. 🐶

If you need to get them out for a short while, go to the woods, preferably somewhere with a stream or safe pond they can cool off in, because even in the shaded woods it can still get very humid. Take plenty of fresh drinking water for both you and your pup. 🌳

DO NOT road walk your dog. This is one of the worst things you can do. The floor that has been sat in the sun all day is now burning hot, and your dog has no way to escape that. If you can not comfortably hold your hand on the asphalt or tarmac for 5-10 seconds, don't make your dog walk on it! 🐾
I am tempted to start stealing shoes from those people I see road walking their dogs.
As I've said before, the paws are the only place a dog sweats from. Imagine holding a hot rock under your arm pits for an hour while you're already too hot. You just wouldn't. 🥵

Walk early mornings or later in the evenings when the temperature has cooled down. If this isn't possible for you, then don't walk them. A day or two without a walk will not kill your pooch. A walk in this heat could, though. Heat stroke can kill a dog in 15 minutes. 😢

Please, please, please, don't take unnecessary risks, which are completely avoidable! 🙏🏻

But also, just a reminder that the heat is dangerous for the dogs, you might be ok in it, but you're not wearing a full body fur coat and walking bare foot on the hot floor.

⚠️ HOT WEATHER WARNING ⚠️

I know I go on about it a lot, but please don't walk your dogs in this heat.
Dogs cannot regulate their body heat in the same way humans can, meaning extra care needs to be taken in hot weather. If dogs are too hot and cannot sufficiently reduce their body temperature through panting, they may develop heat stroke which can be fatal, and quickly!

A day without a walk will not kill your dog, but a walk in temperatures this high might! Please don't take any risks!

Sausage and I went for an early morning walk in the shade of the woods before temperatures got too high, and have been keeping to the safety of the shade indoors, with cool mats, water and homemade puppy ice cream, with occasional wee breaks in the garden.
Keep exercise to a minimum, I know it's hard, with a 15 week old puppy and her abundance of energy, trust me, I know it can be difficult 😅 but the dogs don't know better, and it's our job to protect them ❤️

Stay safe, keep cool, and hydrate

We're only walking in the mornings at the moment to beat the dangerous temperatures, but even then, we are sticking to the shaded woods and streams to minimise any risks. It's never worth it! If you need visits later in the day, we can do that too.

These guys have had nice safe walks with plenty of refreshment breaks along the way. We care for each of your fur babies as if they were our own and want to keep them as safe as possible ❤️
