Phew what a couple of day! Today we ran scentops gold and bronze trials. Fab day watching some incredible teams work their paws off! Congratulations to everyone. We had some people tackle their first trial, some people smash personal goals and everyone have fun with their dog. Proud of each and every competitor who has joined us over these last 2 days. Huge thanks once again to my judges Stella and Gina today and Janet yesterday. Couldn’t do it without them.

Today we hosted our first scentops platinum trial. I really enjoyed setting this challenge and watching the dogs work it. We had 4 teams competing and the standard was really high! Congratulations to all of you, you should be very proud

I have one space left on our outdoor workshop. We will look at problem solving those trickier hides, reading the dogs body language and understanding how the environment affects the hides. Suitable for any level of dog. This will mostly run on clove but happy to accommodate different odours, message me if you would like this.

I will be running 2 workshops on a Saturday at Angmering this May on the 4th and 25th. You can either book as a full day or half day. If you want to do the full day you will need to book both sessions separately. Open to dogs working on any (legal) odour, we would love to see some new faces too!

9.45am - 12.45pm - Odour vs Interest within the search. This is a follow on workshop from the ones run at Walberton but is open to everyone regardless of if you have attending one of the Walberton workshops or not. We will look at understanding if our dog is trying to locate a hide or if they are just interested in a novel odour in the environment.

1.15pm - 4.15pm - Area Planning. We will discuss the best way for each team to tackle larger search areas.

This is what a dog in a lot of pain looks like.

This is what a dog with a foreign body in her intestines looks like.

Just because a dog can brighten up when doing things they love or they are excited at the vets does not mean they are not in pain.

This is a picture of Nettle a year ago, after not eating for days, being really quiet and not herself.
She still run and retrieved toys and I was told she is “too full of beans” to be really unwell.

Please do advocate for your dog if you think something is wrong and do investigate if you have a suspicion they are in pain.

I always forget to post things like this! But now the Scent Ops league is finalised for the 23/24 year I wanted to say how stunned I was to see the top 6 in the National Gold league! Congratulations to each and every one of you. I’m so proud to train you and your fabulous dogs. And to Janet for fighting off tough competition to come out on top! ❤️🐾 very well deserved win 💪🏻
