Unlike us, pets have no understanding that hot weather can beharmful. We control their environment, their access to water and their exercise, and they can’t speak up if they start feeling unwell.
Heat stroke can rapidly progress and, even with veterinary treatment, is often fatal.

Are you looking to travel abroad with your pet this summer? If you are, you will be required to obtain an Animal Health Certificate (AHC) for them.
An AHC needs to be issued by an Official Veterinarian (OV). Check with your veterinary practice to see if they have a qualified OV because not every practice will have one.

Old age is not a disease!
Some of our veterinary nurses provide mobility clinics, equipping you with information and advice to help your older dogs live comfortably through their senior years. Although prevalent in older dogs we do see some younger dogs suffer from osteoarthritis (OA).
Any dog, young or old that suffers from symptoms of OA could benefit from simple changes within the home, exercise alterations and complimentary therapies.
For more information please contact us to book your dog's mobility clinic.
Heat stress starts as a reversible condition, but if not managed it will develop to heat stroke, which is extremely dangerous.
If your pet shows any of these signs, they should be moved to a cool area and offered plenty of water to drink.

To travel with your pet to an EU country or Northern Ireland, there are some requirements your pet will need before you travel.

Have you seen me??
I am a 6 years old chunky tuxedo cat. Nurtured and chipped in Greece, information might not match my owners here in the UK. Last seen in Wilford NG11 area near the Ruddington lane tram stop. Please call 01159212155 with any information, and please share around and keep your eyes out!
Lets break the stigma!
Having a dog who wears a muzzle at home/on walks/at the vets/at the groomers is not something to feel ashamed of. There are so many reasons why a dog may be wearing a muzzle and not because they are a "nasty" dog.
If muzzle training is something you have an interest in doing with your dog but don't know where to start, please give us a call to book a free phone call or in person consult with our RVN Beth!
(Dogs will not attend the in person consult as muzzle training must be started in a positive environment)
Our goal is to help your pets live a healthy, long and happy life.
When you become a member, you’ll get full access to all the tools
needed to give your pet the best care possible.

Deafness is rising in the UK; by 2035, it is estimated that one in five
British people (over 15 million) will experience hearing loss. Hearing
Dogs for Deaf People is a national charity that trains dogs to
alert deaf people to important and life-saving sounds like the smoke
alarm, alarm clock and even a baby’s cry. Their burgundy coats also act
as a visual reminder to the public when they are out and about that
their partner is deaf. Donations raised through Pennies when you pay
by card help support Hearing Dogs for Deaf People. Just a small
donation can make a big difference!
Have you seen me??? Missing cat appeal, last seen around Barton Green in Clifton, please share around and call 01159212155 with any information.
With positive training, wearing a muzzle does not have to be a negative experience. There are many benefits for muzzled trained dogs, an important one is it can lead to safer, quicker and overall less stressful vet visits 🥳🥳
If you are interested in muzzle training but don't know where to start please call us to book a muzzle training appointment or phone call with our RVN Beth!
These are free of charge and in clinic appointments are to be organised without your dog in attendance as muzzle training must start in a positive environment.

Please keep an eye out for him and call the practice on 01159212155 if you have any information/sightings. With the new cat microchipping legislation in England coming in on 10 June 2024, if you have a new kitten, you may be wondering when you would need to get them microchipped by.
All cats need to microchipped by the time they are 20 weeks of age,
this could be done during their neutering procedure so it can be placed easily and they do not feel it.
Give us a call to book your cat in for an appointment and to find out more about microchipping your cat: vetcollection.co.uk/health/microchipping-cats

Our pets are part of the family and we want to share fun experiences with them - including taking them on holiday!
While this often results in great fun and wonderful memories, there are a few things to consider first. A bit of planning beforehand goes a long way towards making it a positive experience for everyone.
