In short, the answer to this is yes! The best part about combining these two ranges at mealtimes is that that both foods break down at the same rate, making them easy for your dog to digest. This is unlike traditional dry kibble, which you shouldn't feed in the same bowl as raw food due to the fact that it takes longer to digest and could cause your dog's stomach to knot.

Premium vs Working Dog: What's the difference?

We're regularly asked what the difference is between our Premium and Working Dog Cold Pressed dry food ranges, so we're here to break it down for you:

Our Working Dog food is designed for very active or working dogs. If your dog receives less than 2 hours of exercise each day, then they are considered to have an average amount of exercise and you should avoid feeding them food that has been specifically designed for very active or working dogs. Food designed for very active or working dogs usually contains more calories as well as a higher focus on slow-release carbohydrates compared to other dog foods and if you’re feeding this to your dog who isn’t getting the level of exercise needed to burn off the calories then you risk unwanted weight gain for your dog – which can in turn lead to a whole host of other health issues. Additionally, dogs who are receiving too many calories and not enough exercise can develop behavioural issues.

Stay safe out there ☀️ 🐶 🐾

With much of the UK expecting to have their hottest day of the year so far today, we wanted to share some of our top tips for keeping your furry friends safe during warmer weather:

☀️ Keep dogs indoors during very hot weather
☀️ Consider only early morning walks during warmer weather (and only if it is cool enough to do so)
🐕 Keep walks slow and calm to avoid too much running around that can overheat your dog
🐾 Avoid hot pavements, roads and sand as these can burn your dogs footpads. Test the surface with your hand to check whether it feels too hot for walking on (if it feels hot to you it's definitely too hot for your dog!)
🐶 Familiarise yourself with the symptoms of heatstroke in dogs and watch out for any unusual symptoms or behaviours that your dog may be displaying
🚰 Make sure that plenty of fresh drinking water is available at all times
🧊 Ice cubes in your dogs water bowl can help to keep your dog cool
❌ NEVER leave your dog unattended in a vehicle during sunny weather

Wilsons Pet Food began selling pet food in 1861 and after many years of producing our successful museli-based dog food, we launched our delicious Premium and Working Dog #ColdPressedDogFood.

Our dog food is produced in our purpose-built facility in the Perthshire countryside and our ingredients are largely sourced in the UK because we want to know exactly what is going into our food, ensuring it is as nutritious as it can be.

Cold Pressed Dog Food is easier to digest (great for the older dog or sensitive eater), and by cooking at a lower temperature it both retains and aids the release of those much needed nutrients and minerals that hard fired kibble simply cannot achieve.

This incredible cooking method also helps to deliver a positive change in their mood, activity and health - because a healthy dog is a happy dog!
