It’s a warm one today guys!
Depending on your dogs breed & overall health, If I think it’s too hot to take your dog out then I won’t.
I can still do pop in visits to let them out to the toilet and play with them indoors or in the garden if there’s shade.

With temperatures set to rise to 30c today, please take extra care if you have a brachycephalic dog.

🚨Big Announcement🚨

Over the last year I have been considering trialling pet sitting away from Barrow. Thanks to a fantastic website ‘Trusted House sitters’ this has all been made possible.

So, the following dates I will be unavailable from will be, 29th June - 20th July, as I will be pet sitting in… California! This is an incredible chance for me to pass on.

Did you know pets can get sunburn? 😮

Our furry friends most commonly experience sunburn on their ears, nose, eyelids and belly. They're particularly at risk if they have light-coloured fur or any thin fur patches. It’s important to protect them from the sun with sun cream, as sunburn is incredibly painful for them! And any sun damage, even without sunburn, can also lead to skin cancer 😿

As the warmer weather approaches I will be trying to avoid taking your lovely doggos out during the midday sun/when it’s hottest. This is for their own wellbeing. If needs be I can always do pop in visits around their usual walk times so they can go to the toilet ect. Or we can look at walks earlier or later in the day ☺️🐾🎃

May is Veterinary Nurse Awareness month. Even though I’m not working in practice, I am still keeping my title by keeping up to date with my CPD and everything vet related.

This month is Veterinary Nursing Awareness Month - 💚

It’s a month where BVNA, alongside the entire profession, champion all things veterinary nursing. Raising awareness of the skills, training and dedication that goes into being a Student or Registered Veterinary Nurse (SVN/RVN).

It can sometimes be difficult to recognise some of the different roles within the vet team – how can you spot who is an RVN? 🤔

Look out for the following:
💚 An RVN badge (shown in our picture)
💚 The RVN post-nominals

Whenever your pet encounters an RVN in your vet practice – whether alongside you as their caregiver, or as an in-patient behind the scenes – you can be assured that their needs are being met by a highly knowledgeable, skilled and dedicated professional.

Here’s Choco foraging for treats hidden in my snuffle mat from SG Pet Enrichment Mats
There are other ways to keep your pets engaged when they are unable to get out.
We also hid some treats in rocks and tree stumps to help mentally stimulate Choco today.

Had a major car issue today. Had a piece of metal stuck in my tyre, which caused it to go flat, then I got myself stuck in the mud. So after being towed, having my tyre repaired & getting home 3 hours later, I’ll be back to business as usual tomorrow 🤦🏼‍♀️😂

📣 CAT MICROCHIPPING📣

🏷️ As you may already know, microchipping for dogs became required by law in April 2016. Well, from 10th June 2024 it will be a legal requirement in the UK for all cats to be microchipped.

📞 This includes ensuring all your contact information on the microchip database is correct & up to date! Failure to do so the owner will risk getting up to a £500 fine.

🛡️ Microchips are a lifeline in reuniting lost pets with their owners. They offer an extra layer of protection, especially when collars or tags may become lost or removed.

👩🏼‍⚕️ All vets offer microchipping at a low price. Contact your local practice to book in.
