ARTHRITIS TIP #30
The final tip....
A two part tip...
1. You and your dog are a unique case. What works for another dog and owner may not work for you so please don't worry that you aren't doing as many interventions as your dog walking friend. Do what works for your dog and you!
2. I wish I had known sooner! I wish I had been aware noise phobia has strong links with pain. I wish I knew repetitive ball throwing can put unnecessary stress on the joints.
Because I could have helped Holly earlier! But I know now....and I want others to know!

ARTHRITIS TIP #17
We tend to focus solely on the joint disease and forget about the "global" disease it creates.
When avoiding pain that comes from joint movement we weight shift away and utilise the supporting soft tissues differently... this is a good coping strategy but not great in the long-term because it creates problems elsewhere which too are painful.
By treating the "whole" body you can dramatically improve pain state and quality of life!!!
ARTHRITIS TIP #15
Reduced exercise is not the sole cause of weight gain!
And is not going to be the sole way to shift excess weight!
An average 20kg dog will only burn 127kcal on a 30 min walk!!
So take on board the dietary approach to weight loss!!!
Better still practice weight control from young!!!

ARTHRITIS TIP #11
Slow feeders!!! I love them!!
Listen why !!!
ARTHRITIS TIP #9
FOOT CARE!!
Trim that fur back ...but not to the skin - clipper rash is painful! Use clippers not scissors.
Keep toe nails of a suitable length....and get someone more experienced to help you
See you tomorrow!!!
Thank you Hills for their support on the CAM Big Walks!!!
ARTHRITIS TIP #7
Consider the terrain your dog walks on! It can have a significant impact on their condition!
Firm, semi soft, predictable, stable and non slippery....especially for the significantly debilitated!!!

ARTHRITIS MANAGEMENT TIP #1
weight weight weight.
Reducing your dog's weight and aiming for a body condition score of 4-4.5/9 is essential
Here's how!
As many of you are aware ...Hannah and Holly did a big walk in 2017...
They had less than a 1000 followers but wanted to raise awareness about this debilitating disease.
They raised £6500 over the 8 days that was ploughed back into CAM!
This year we are going bigger....we need to raise £15000 to rebuild the website into an owner focused hub of information and support..
This year you guys are walking!!!
We aim to help you guys organise #100 walks around the UK ...to raise awareness and funds!!!
Please follow this page to hear more and email [email protected] if you would like to sign up to being an organiser!!!
