Had a wonderful day at the summer NFRS cup show. My wonderful rats have killed it in pets once again.

Including father and son both placing in breeder owned buck and a 10 week old doe also winning breeder owned doe. Her mum is also a best breeder owned doe winner and silver variety champ 🥰

I am aware I have lots of outstanding messages and e-mails re-kittens. I still have 4 bucks left to allocate so if you have e-mailed me you haven’t been ignored I just haven’t had chance to actually sort it all out and reply to you.

I have been poorly and also been sooooo busy, I work 6 days a week and Sundays I have had plans, pre arranged kitten collections or had to clean out rats!! 😅

I should hopefully have some time tomorrow to get back to people 🙂 sorry again!!

Applications are now open for Galactic babies.

There are both does and bucks, there are babies from both my lines. I don’t allow people to pick individual colours or rats but happy to request a certain line as they do have some differences in personality. I’m happy if you want a mixed pair/trio as well.

Tonk line - there is various shades of Tonkinese and one Siamese doe all top eared. The Tonks tend to be “rat rats” they aren’t you lay down on the sofa rats, they are active and engaging and strong minded. Lots of fun and very sweet but can be opinionated. Priority given to NFRS show homes.

Marten line - pink eyed marten, black eyed Silver agouti, black and agouti available some rex martens and some dumbos.
These are very very sweet rats, they do very well in the pet class at shows and are usually active and engaging but easily handleable and turn to goo when picked up. Best fit as pets in a family with children.

4 lovely boys still looking for homes.

The girlies have had interest but these boys have not.

Please see previous post for full details on them. They are now with me in Sheffield and are ready to be collected.

I can say since they have been in my care they are really wonderful boys. I may keep a pair of them as I have fallen in love 🤫

They are very well natured, I have introduced them to a group of older boys here with no issues which really speaks volumes for their well balanced nature. Adult bucks can be a bit of a pain sometimes.

They come racing to the door to see me for scratches and cuddles whenever I go and visit them. They will be really amazing member to the family for any buck keeping household. And curly boys are always fun.

I would love to help get all these wonderful rats in their forever homes as soon as possible, as much as I really enjoy their company.

Hey guys. Sorry it you haven’t had replies from me. I have been out the country for a week on holiday in Austria and Slovakia including being at a music festival
For 5 days of that so I haven’t had chance to reply or organise before I disappeared.

I’m back home now and will get back to everyone.

The rats are now in Sheffield and the lovely Lilly was able to get them while I was away so can actually make some more concrete plans :)

Again I’m sorry for going AWOL you aren’t being ignored I promise. I just need today to try and get my brain back together :) it’s not been much of a relaxing break. I need a holiday to recover from my holiday now.

Adult rats available. Due to personal circumstances a friend is having to re-home their rats ASAP.

They are currently with there owner based in Colchester Essex but transport can be arranged. I can have some here to be collected from Sheffield as well.

They were all bred by Finn (Scallywag rattery) and are from NFRS foundations apart from some who gave the breeders permission to be pet homed.

Group 1 Trio of does, Gina- 10 months old, agouti Essex Rhea- almost 12 months old, agouti Rex Daphne- almost 12 months old, agouti

They are currently in a boys group and a girls group, but this is how Finn would like to split them up, unless someone wahts to take a bigger group.

How my homing process works.

Firstly, I’m very honoured you would like some Galactic Kittens to join your rat family 🐀

Unlike many other breeders I DO NOT operate a waiting list and don’t hold onto your details for future litters.

For transparency’s sake I have ADHD, Dyslexia and have 2 jobs so safe to say organisational skills and free time are luxury’s I don’t sadly have much of 😅 so please be patient with my terrible response rate. I have tried a few different things over the years and this is what works the best for me.

When I have kittens born I try and post about them
Being born and maybe some kitten updates. I will then usually when the kittens are 5/6 weeks old open applications for that round of kittens only. I hope this means that people can apply for rats when they are truly ready for them and reduce my admin by not chasing a list where often people aren’t ready for rats at that exact time.

I will then match the kittens to the most appropriate homes based on temperament, if they go to shows etc.

I absolutely love being able to supply amazing happy friendly kittens to amazing new homes and owners but my primary purpose of breeding is to further the species and for exhibition so I do only breed a few times a year and I’m not a pet shop.

As the time between application and picking up rats is fairly short I do need my homes to have a cage and researched husbandry beforehand and have everything set up and ready to go. I am always happy to help new owners at any time select cages and food etc 🌸

When applications are open I will ask for an e-Mail with the following info. So having this info ready would be great way to prepare.

- A Photo of the cage all set up with accessories.
- Details of the food you plan to feed
- Details of the bedding you use.
- Tell me a little about you, and your experience with rats and husbandry. This could be What drew you to rats as pets, what rats do you currently own and where were they from, have yo been to any rat shows, what other pets you keep as well.
- Ask any questions you might have for me.

I don’t have form as I think they become a tick box exercise. I would rather hear from you in your own words but it’s also a bit of a test as it shows me what you feel important to add 🙂 there is no right and wrong but the more detail you provide the better 💖

Breeding plan update 🐀

We have two litters due on Tuesday.

I have also had 2 Tonkinese litters born last week as well 🥰

Expected colours include from my Marten line. Marten including dumbo and rex , silver agouti, Agouti , Black.

I don’t want to count my rats too early but these guys tend to had fairly big litters so I hope there will be some for homes.

I have also had two Tonk litters as well and I am expecting Tonkinese, Tonkinese agouti, Siamese and Homozygous forms of the tonk and tonk agouti. Probably some Russian in there as well.

I will be at the NFRS summer cup so a perfect opportunity for a rat train for those further afield to consider.

I am not open for applications yet they won’t be ready to leave until early July and I will start taking applications nearer the time. I just wanted give you some warning. I don’t run a waiting list but happy to answer any questions you may have.

2 Tonkinese agouti does available 🥰

I have reached out to those wanting does from my January litters and either not had a reply or they aren’t in a position to take on rats atm.

That means I have two 11 week old Tonkinese does available for a loving home.

This line are more “rat rats” then cuddly rats, they are fun and interactive but might not be the most calm rats in the world. Not aggressive in the slightest but not human orientated.

As this is a new variety I am looking for a specific home.
- experienced rat owner
- preferably active in the fancy and goes to NFRS shows.
- can keep in good contact about the health and wellbeing of them throughout their lives as they are a new line and variety I want to keep tabs 🙂
- Be looking and ready to collect rats as soon as possible as they are allready 11 weeks and I would love them to go to there forever home.

Very proud of my babies again this week.

Best breeder owned doe, second breeder owned doe.
First breeder owned buck and fourth breeder owned buck.
First, second and third breeder owned pet.
And then best pet and fourth best pet overall as well.

Also happy to have collected a few stars in varieties as well and pleased with the results there as well and the crits were good too.

I couldn’t make the NERS show In Preston today. But the wonderful Jessica Tabern did with her two galactic boys Sparrow and Wolf.

Both boys did great in varieties and wonderful Wolf took best pet as well !!! 💖

So proud of my babies who live both with me and with you wonderful pet homes.

In May 2022 I went to collect a frightened mum and her tiny beasts. They were the result of a pet shop miss sexing.

She wasn’t sure about people at first, but quickly grew into a sassy strong minded girly. Once all her babies flew the nest I knew she wasn’t going anywhere.

Thank you for being the odd rat out in my cage agent sparrow. The one wonky Russian marked thing among a sea of martens. I’m lucky that I don’t see many mammary tumours in my own rats and I had forgotten how rubbish they are to see slowly take away my little furry friends.

Fly free Sparrow. I hope your little munchkins are going well.

If any of you adopted Sparrow’s baby’s I would love to see how they are all doing now 💖

Team Galactic are back from another wonderful Bradford champs.

I’m very pleased with the results. I’m certainly not mad about my varieties but I know my rats aren’t top of the class…. It’s a work in progress for sure 🙂 one of my gorgeous marten girlys is only one star shy of a silver championship and her full sister is already a gold champion? Or maybe just one star away owned by my friend Kate at Rattray Stud

But I’m very pleased that they continue to shine in pets. My little superstar now named “Cheryl Cole” by Lisa Halcyon has had her second reserve best pet at only 12 weeks old 💖 and her cousin got Third best pet also, they were also first at second breeder owned pets out of 30.

So second and third out of 58 rats ain’t too shabby I say. They deserve the new hammock I bought them.

Russian Tonkinese. I kept a beautiful agouti Russian tonk last time he is absolutely beautiful. This is the self:

I know I should really focus on one type of tonk to try and standardise the non Russian ones but the Russians are just so beautiful. I can’t wait until his points come in.

I sometimes see on rat Facebook groups that breeders don’t care about friendly rats and just care about winning shows. Did you know half of rat showing is the “pet” class where they are just judged on there temperament?

My rats don’t win varieties all that often (although that’s a work in progress) and I don’t go to all that many shows due to work commitments making them hard to win. But I am very proud to have won Bronze, Silver and Gold pet accolades in the last year.

That is achieved by winning and placing in the pet classes consistently across at least 4 shows and some placements of best pet and reserve best pet to get gold.

The black and white is a miss marked badger (very very cute face marking☺️), a Champagne Badger (the palest one with red eyes) and a Copper (this is a new variety with pretty silvery undercoat)

3 Adult bucks available.

This is a sad re-home for a friend of mine due to a sudden change in personal circumstances.

The boys have been living with me for a few months but after a discussion with their owner the kindest thing to do for these lads is to find them a new forever home.

They are very very Big boys (a two hand rat is the technical term) they were bred by my friend Lilly at Lillyput stud. They can be a little cage defensive and are certainly more rat rats than people rats. But happy to have a good snuggle once out the cage. Looking for an experienced buck home with adults who understands they aren’t cuddly rats.

Two are badgers (one black and one champagne) and one copper.

I will try and get some half decent photos of them over the next few days but wanted to get the feelers out there first.

This once tiny beast (photo as a kitten) , Galactic Knoblauch owned by the lovely Kate of Rattray Stud did me proud wining reserve best in show at the NFRS Christmas cup show.

Just an update of my breeding plans for those looking for rats.

- I still have black does available who are ready to go to there new homes. See previous post for details.

- I have one younger litter from my marten line who will be ready for homes in January. Those looking for homes will be all black top ear. I am not ready to arrange homes for them quite yet. But I actually have mostly bucks which I’m sure is good news to many waiting 🙂

- I have paired up my Tonkinese litters, all going well if. I have any rats available for homes this will be early March they will be looking for homes.

After this I will have a few months break from breeding as I let my current kittens grow o n (I have had rat babies in my house non stop since June last year 🤯)
