Fabulous long afternoon treating 💆🏼‍♀️
Starting at Woodhouse Farm Stables - always such a pleasure to treat these beautifully cared for and well behaved horses. And even Jack the Lab had a session today - Peg will have to ask Lee very nicely to have one next time 😉
Finishing my day with Bowie 👨🏼‍🎤 ahead of his event on Sunday. He always adores his sessions and his owner is always very pleased with the results. Good Luck this weekend 🤞🏻

How many people does it take to get one horse out competing?

Whether it’s your first time out or you’re a seasoned pro, always remember the team it took to get you there…

The vets - for your routine & specialist care 👩🏼‍⚕️

The farrier - for your dancing shoes 👟

The equine dentist - for your happy mouth 🦷

The saddler - for your well fitting and comfortable saddle 🪑

The instructor - for their guidance and often impromptu therapy sessions 😵‍💫

The physio/osteo/chiro/massage therapist - for keeping your horse supple, level and comfortable 💆🏼‍♀️

And finally, the friends and family - for listening, helping, understanding and most importantly, greeting you at the front door with a glass of wine no matter what the result was…!! 🍷

🥗🐴Natural Grazing Position🐴🥗

As many of you know, I have a real dislike of the use of haynets and feeding from the door. However, this is not personal preference, rather looking at the horses anatomical structure 🦴🦿

As shown in the comparison photos, eating at higher head carriage places unnecessary tension through the muscles of the neck, poll and back. Repetitive movement and often unnatural twisting & pulling at the haynet and feed bar will only help to increase the stress put on the muscles 💪🏻

Many horses I’ve had the pleasure of treating have improved vastly by returning to eating the way they are designed 🥗

🌟Simply put… your horse’s natural grazing position if from ground level!!🌟

✖️Please note, I am aware that for medical reasons, some owners are advised to feed from nets etc✖️

🐴🐶New Team Members🐶🐴

So I thought it was about time I introduced everyone to the newest recruits 🙊🥰

The little bundle of fur is Conker and she’s a Working Cocker Spaniel. Every veterinary physiotherapy session will now come with a complementary puppy cuddle 😂

And the big old bay boy is affectionately known as Ron on the yard 🙋🏼‍♀️ Sadly he will be unable to attend your session 🤷🏼‍♀️

🙈🐷Every Physio’s Worst Nightmare🐷🙈

With the (much needed) rain we’ve just had ⛈ please, where possible have your horses as dry and clean as possible before their session 💆🏼‍♀️

A wet/damp/muddy coat makes palpation and massage very difficult and sometimes uncomfortable for the horse 🐴 This is because the coat no longer glides underneath our hands and often sticks and pulls on the hairs. This can result in a “false” reaction from the muscles...

This is my mud monster just before I wanted to ride 👆🏻🙈

Massive well done to Heidi Stevens for placing first 🥇 in the 90cm ODE yesterday on Pal, at Pontispool 💪🏻

And an even bigger well done for placing 6th with Frog 🐸 in his first ever event 🤩
