Coming in strong as my second sponsored rider is the lovely Brittney!

Britt is a hard worker and wonderful rider. She is currently producing her horse, Storm, to go eventing, and I think she’s doing a fabulous job!

Britt is one of life’s inspirations, working full time, keeping her yard on track at home, keeping Storm fit and healthy, and being the best mum to her lovely daughter.

I’m so grateful to have these pair on board with me!

Thank you Brittney, wishing you the best of luck as the competition season is ahead 🩷

Let’s talk about seasons and saddle fitting.

The recommended amount to have your saddle checked per year, is a minimum of 4 - as every season changes.

Horses a prone to shape change a lot, and as each season changes, so does your horse. Probably not by much for most, but the smallest difference can have the biggest affect on your saddle.

Be sure to pop me a message to get booked in for your Spring saddle check!

Introducing my first sponsored rider….

The one and only, Mr David Curnow!

Dave is a very experienced horseman. From being in the King’s Troop in the Army, to being a Hunt Master, a very successful showman and so much more. Dave is a man of many stories, which I will never get bored of hearing!

Top of all of this, Dave and his wife, Sam, are two of my most favourite people in the world. Being the most supportive friends and always ensuring you have a smile on your face.

I’m feeling very honoured to have Dave wearing my logo with their lovely horse, Freddie - in their new Bates Jump saddle which I had the privilege of fitting.

Also make sure you go and follow Sam’s business TipTop Tails for the most beautifully made keepsakes.

Thank you Sam, Dave and Freddie.

Stay tuned to see my next sponsored rider announcements very soon!

They say that as an equine professional, you’ll meet horses you want to take home. Well everyone, meet Thomas!

I had the honour of seeing him this evening for a saddle check, and I honestly mean it when I say I’d happily take him home with me!

Tom is such a saint and does a great job of being his 14 year old owners best friend.

Thank you to his owners for having me today!

Keep up your great work with Tom!

I’m getting busier day by day, so be sure to message me to get booked in.

Thank you all

💥💥 💥CONGRATULATIONS 💥💥💥

🥂GEORGIA SQUIRE🥂

For successfully completing the LANTRA Accredited IASF Stage 3 Professional Saddle Fitting Award!!

Georgia is based in Cornwall and began riding at just 3 years old, having had horses her whole life.
Georgia has been on a long journey with her four legged best friend Robbie.
She has owned Robbie since 2020 and he has played a huge part in her undoubtedly soon to be very successful career as a saddle fitter.
Unfortunately with a lack of saddle fitters in the Southwest and after struggling to find anybody who could fit a saddle that fitted him properly, she had a lightbulb moment!
Georgia discussed with her friends and family how she had tried to fit him a saddle herself and with the work that she put into fixing this problem she realised that she needed to learn more.
Georgia says that she was soon “dreaming about saddles”
This is how she knew that her passion for saddle fitting would lead her onto becoming a professional saddle fitter.
She is thoroughly enjoying the whole process and continues to throw herself into learning with a clear direction of wanting to be the best out there.

Quote

“Working with the IASF has been nothing but a privilege, I would have no hesitation recommending them to anyone interested in saddle fitting!!”

Thank you Georgia for being so dedicated and passionate for the horses that you will help in the future.
The Academy Team are very proud of your efforts and we will continue to support you throughout your professional journey.

We wish you every success!! 🥂☘️

I’m seeing lots of posts from businesses doing a “meet the team” and while my small business consists of me, myself and I, I thought I’d share with you my boy behind the scenes.

So here’s my version, meet the horse:

This is Robbie, he’s a 10, rising 11 year old thoroughbred. I got Robbie in November 2020 after sadly having to have my heart horse put to sleep. Robbie truly has healed my broken heart.

Robbie was bred on a racing yard, with very successful parents (Lady Bling Bling and Phoenix Reach for anyone interested) but my boy failed his race training as he was far too slow for the tracks. I don’t know the full details of what happened to him after this but I do know that he didn’t have it easy, being a failed racer he was “no use” so off he went, no name in his passport or anything.

Eventually me and Robbie found each other, and he will stay with me now for life. Although our time together hasn’t been rainbows and sunshine. Robbie has managed to try to remove his leg twice now and also had surgery on the same leg to remove a fibroblastic sarcoid, he spent the best part of a year on and off box rest, gaining his yard nickname: “Sicknote”

Touch wood and cross all your fingers, Robbie and I are reaching the light at the end of the tunnel and I’ll be bringing him back into work soon, I just need more hours in a day and some motivation to get back on 😅

Robbie is the sweetest, most loving horse you’ll ever find, I often joke if he could get into my pocket, he would. He’s a real mummy’s boy and I absolutely adore him.

So there’s my “meet the team” Robbie and I are the faces behind Georgia Squire Saddle Fitting.

I’d love to hear about your horses too!

I absolutely love a good success story, so to have created one myself makes me so proud🙌🏻

I’ve been working closely with Antoinette Anthoney and Sir for a few weeks now, after watching them riding and noticing, unfortunately, her saddle did not fit.

Luckily, this saddle was on trial, so we remedied her “old” saddle to work until a better solution was found.

We swayed towards Kent and Masters as they came very highly recommend by Antoinette’s daughter and also myself - I do love a Kent and Masters!

After some searching, finding one that wasn’t 100% up to standards, they have finally got their saddle - and today we got to fit it!

Working with Antoinette and Sir has been a great journey so far. Sir has been extremely patient with us making the adjustments, rider on, rider off, saddle on, saddle off etc and Antoinette has taken everything I’ve said and suggested to her and done what she needs to do to have a happy and comfortable horse. Not only this, she has been so supportive of me and my saddle fitting journey right from the start. I’ll never forget the smile on her face when I told her I was starting my course.

So pleased that she can now crack on and get back to what she loves to do most, spending time in the saddle with her best friend, Sir.

Thank you both! I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this process so far.

Had a lovely visit to my good friend Ebby, who is owned by Chloe Dowrick

Freshly back into work so a check of both her jump and dressage saddle was in need. The rain even managed to stay away for us while she rode! 🙌🏻

Thank you Ebb and Chloe for having me today, was a lovely morning!

I really enjoyed having lots of time to look in depth into Ebb, they way she moves and her saddles. She’s a good girl!

Oh and Ebb looked very cute posing in the puddle, so had to get some pictures, of course!

Thanks Chloe! 🩷

I just had the very best time going to see Brittney McClary and Storm to fit a very beautiful Kieffer Dressage saddle🤩

Watching Storm and Britt strut their stuff, they make such a wonderful pair. Thank you for having me over to have a look!

Massive brownie points for the entertainment of watching Britt herd 23, yes, 23 chickens and 2 cockerels into their coop for the night🤣 and Harpo the cat, who just seemed to appear in every corner I looked.

I think I smiled the entire way through this fitting, thank you so much!!

Pen testing… 🖊️

An interesting strategy, which I will use forever now!

By using 2 pens like in this photo, you can test to see if the width of your saddle is correct.

If the pens run parallel like they do below, your saddle width is probably spot on! If they are angled, something is not quite right, how clever is this?!

Had another great day today looking at some lovely ponies for my case studies, I just can’t wait to go full time saddle fitting.

Thank you all for your support! 🙌🏻

Over the weekend I got the opportunity to have a look at Rebecca’s lovely boy, Floyd.

She has recently had to have her GP saddle adjusted in width, so I had a sneak peek to see how it’s looking! We decided after looking at it statically and dynamically that a Prolite Pad, some shims and the balance strap are the best options for now until hopefully, Floyd gains more muscle over the coming months.

As you can see in the photos, Floyd has a rather large left shoulder, which in turn, pushes his saddle off to the right. With the use of some shims etc, we were able to regain the balance completely!

Floyd and Rebecca make a great team, looking at this for a case study was so interesting, and a very satisfying process for me!

Many thanks to Becky and Floyd for this! Added a few extra details to my case study and that’s 1 passed!

Let’s talk muscles and the “saddle safe area”

Pictured here you can see I’ve used chalk to draw out the safe zone for a saddle to sit on the horses back.

Anything outside of this box is not safe for a saddle. Did you know saddles should only have weight on the horses muscle? The longest muscle in the horses back is their Longissimus Dorsi, which is where your panels should be sat to ensure no pressure is being put on bones or ligaments.

I feel like I have X-ray vision, I can’t look at horses the same now that I’ve done this course, it’s the most amazing thing!

Massive thank you to Marie Morgan for letting me practice on your lovely girl, Pebbles - what an absolute saint she is!

Thank you all for your support so far, I’m loving this life 🙌🏻

Today I had the privilege of meeting Georgia Toy’s lovely girl, March 🥰

Case study number 1, need to do my write up of all of our findings to be sent to my assessors 🤞🏻

March is in lovely condition, and I was surprised to find out she is 16! Lots of life left in this girl.

No adjustments or shifting needed of her saddle, Georgia does a lovely job of keeping an eye and making sure March is happy, healthy and comfortable!

Thanks again Georgia and March, I shall see you in a few months for another check up 🤩

Hello! 👋

I thought I’d start my page off with an introduction for those who don’t know me.

I’m Georgia, 22, from Cornwall. I’ve ridden horses for most of my life (around 18 years now!) and the obsession just does not stop!

I’m pictured here practicing a saddle safety check on my lovely Kent and Masters GP saddle with my handy assistant, Robbie - who I’m sure will feature a lot on this page, so stay tuned to see more Robbie content!

I began my saddle fitting journey at the end of last year, where I completed stage 1 & 2 remote learning and stage 3 practical and online professional award with the International Academy of Saddle Fitters (IASF) I passed my exams with a merit!

I now need to complete at least 10 case studies to gain more feedback from my assessors and then I’ll be off, saddle fitting in the South West! So if you’d like a free consultation and to be apart of my case studies, please pop me a message - I’d be so very grateful for any support to get me started!

Thank you all for following along, I can’t wait to get stuck in and start seeing your horses and ponies, providing top quality service to ensure yours and your beloved horses comfort and safety!
