Looking forward to giving a talk to dog trainers working for Dog A.I.D in January. They do a great job and most work on a voluntary basis.

Did you know dog aggression is the most common and serious dog problem in the UK?

It's a natural behaviour so it can probably never be cured. That's a big ask. But we can reduce the number of times it occurs and the intensity of the behaviour to such an extent that it is easily managed.

Treatment of aggression requires that something must be changed:

1. change in consequences of behaviour
2. change in associations to the target
3. change to access (management) to target
4. change in brain chemistry

Qualified dog trainer and dog behaviour consultant Aftab has worked with most dog breeds ranging from small Chihuahuas to large Leonbergers, Dobermans and German Shepherd Dogs. Aftab has dealt with virtually all unwanted behaviours exhibited by our canine friends and has particular expertise in work...

Barking dog issues?

Here's a training tip:
Teach your dog to come running to you or his eating area whenever you say 'Thank you' or 'That's enough'. You can do this by giving him lots of tasty treats whenever you say this.

He should soon be reliably running to you or his eating area for treats whenever he hears the cue of 'Thank you' or 'That's enough'.

Try the cue when he's actually barking - whether that's at a door bell or something else that sets your dog off. You'll find he stops barking and comes running for his scattered treats!

See my article on barking in the Daily Mail. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/property/article-13667481/My-neighbours-barking-dog-nightmare-just-house.html

Lots of my neighbours have told me the dog bothers them, but said they didn't want to cause a fuss. What can I do to make it stop?

Research has revealed that there was an increase of 81% in dogs going missing in the two weeks around November in 2023 surround bonfire night and Diwali compared to the previous two weeks.

We need an understanding dog caring MP to bring a private members bill to address the situation.

In the meantime, good luck to all whose dogs are worried about fireworks❤️
