I often get asked what age is best to start training? Training at any age is beneficial if you have an issue that needs sorting.
Dogs do not grow out of issues.
You can teach old dogs.
It is not a phase
The sooner you start the quicker it will be sorted.

Lets talk reward.
Food is the normal one a high value, depends on your dog what that is.
Toys another reward, wide range, find what your dog likes.
Touch or stroking or even brushing if that is what your dog likes.
If your training I'm sure there is something you can reward them with.

Lots of dogs that are noise sensitive at the moment. It is an issue that needs dealing with and it doesn't just go away.
Managing the aftermath and teaching them to cope is important as you are reducing the sensitivity.

Going out and training with dogs in real situations is important. This is suitable for all age of dogs. No home or class training is a substitute for the real world in real time.
121 training out and about today early and late sessions due to the weather, stay safe in the heat.

Lots of people say you can't train and older dog. This is untrue I have helped lots of oldies live a better life. Everything from Lead work, recall to niggly behaviour issues like barking and jumping up.

I might not use all the training my dogs know everyday. Today stop and recall, when joggers with a dog turn up out of nowhere and your dog is running free the far side of them. My boy did good, so proud.

Rescue dogs come in all shapes and sizes.
This is Tara who is 10 years old and I am honoured to help with her new life. Her new human is experienced with rescue and Tara has started to work out she is allowed on the bed, and that cheeky dog behaviour is welcome.
Due to trauma she isn't a cuddly dog for all and is happy to be near dogs and people but no touching please.
She has made a westie doggy friend and has some humans in her circle now.
Yesterday we went out somewhere new with new things and she needs some support and time, but what a sniffer she is.
What a team these 2 are already and what a life Tara has to look forward too. Vet experience next then groomer and then pubs and cafes in the months ahead.

Tongue is out as she only has 2 teeth now but she doesn't care.
Rescue can be fulfilling but you need so much patience and no expectations.

TOO hot to be walking your dog. the pavements are boiling.
No dog will die from missing a walk, but some will from being walked.
It surprises me how many dogs are walked in the heat of the day.
Please change your routine to keep your dog safe.

This is stressful and can spiral quickly. Sortable in most cases few exceptions and the sooner it is looked at the better.

Difficult month for owners with dogs that have hayfever and grass allergies. This can mean they display behaviours that are linked to the meds or the illness. Management is essential and works to make everyone happier.

Lots of puppies around at the moment, all need correct socialisation and training. Cute thinks they can get away with anything, manners and basics are important so as an adult they are a good doggy citizen.

The earlier you start dealing with this the better.
Once it is separation anxiety it takes alot more effort and time.

It is important that pups learn to be calm around other animals. This video is Polly who is smashing the don't jump or chase the cat training. You can see she wanted to but changed her mind. Hard work paying off now. She is such a smarty pants.
