Yesterday's puppy club pool party.

Pups (and owners🤪) did well at playing a K9 versions of tick tack toe, followed by some off lead playing, option to swim, and then to finish, a fun little trick of leg weaving

Teeth brushing

Good oral hygiene keeps the plaque away

Did you know that there are many natural ways that can help keep your dogs teeth clean.

Raw bone (not all dogs can have Raw bones so be careful when introducing raw bones to your dog)

Coconut oil

Seaweed (currently using this, absolutely amazing)

Chicken feet

Rubbing your dogs cheeks to help stimulate saliva can help too.

Carrots

Toys

Antlers

If you know of any other natural ways to clean dogs teeth please add it in to the comments below 🙂

Teenage horror!

The most common age to end up in rescue.

The teenage phase is the hardest, it can sometimes feel like your dog isn't making any progress. I'm here to tell you, don't give up, hang on in there, while it may seem a constant battle, your dog is learning, they are improving, and they will get there.
The Key is not to compare your dog with other dogs. This not only deflates you, but can also make you feel guilty. You have nothing to feel guilty about because I know your doing amazing 🙂
Set smaller size goals. look at the achievements your dog is making. It's so easy to concentrate on the fails, we forget to look at the smaller achievements.
An example of setting smaller goals:
Instead of expecting your dog to be able to wait while the door opens. While this is the overall end goal. Set the goal smaller, does your dog wait when you push the door handle down. If they can, then raise the next goal, can they wait when you open the door just a little bit and then close it. When they can do that, then raise the goal again, can they wait for the door to be fully open?
Before you know it, your dog is waiting with the door wide open.

When you lower the expectations, the training becomes easier. Co living becomes easier.

Your dog isn't trying to be difficult, they are just having a hard time, you're doing great 👍

In the scorching sun's blazing light,
A cautionary tale takes flight,
For furry friends who wag and pant,
Deserve our care, love, and grant.

In the heat of summer's fiery glow,
Remember, pet owners, to know,
That hot pavement burns their paws,
And leaves them with painful flaws.

So in the midday's intense heat,
Keep your doggos off the street,
Provide shade and water cool,
Let them rest in the shade, no rule.

For walks, choose mornings or eves,
When the sun no longer cleaves,
Its rays so harsh upon their back,
Protect them from the heat's attack.

Be mindful, pet owners dear,
Your furry friends hold you near,
Keep them safe from summer's heat,
And their joy will be complete.

Yesterday, we did a thing, a big thing .

I was invited along to host trailing for Mischief Managed Pet Training with some amazing dogs.

They all did Fantastic, It still amazes me how different dogs respond and behave when they're out in working mode.

Yesterday I didn't get my mile in as we did a family thing all day, came back late and exhausted 😆. So to make up for it, I walked 2 miles today.

If you would like to help support me by either sharing, taking part in your own fundraising walk, or if you would like to make a donation, it would mean a lot, not just to me or the volunteers at the rescue, but for the animals at the shelters.

No volunteers keep the money, every penny goes straight towards the animal's veterinary care, kennel fees and feed.
If you like to know more I've posted their page link below so you can follow their journeys
Thank you 🐾

Is your dog nearing or already at the ADOLESCENT stage?

Adolescence in dogs runs from about 6 to 18 months.
Sometimes longer the larger the breed.

It is at this time period that sadly, dogs are handed over to shelters, because they have poorer impulse control, tend to get excited easily, jump up, chew, mouth, and have almost adult dog bodies. Adolescence is part of their development stage that will pass and with it, so will some of these undesirable behaviors. It's a long arduous battle that's for sure, bits it's a battle worth fighting for. So long as you can provide Exercise time, give appropriate chew options, play time with other dogs, and some training, it can all help get you and your dog through this stage!

Not long to go now 😊

Starting next month in May I'll be walking 1 mile a day for 30 days in the hopes to raise funds for stray2me rescue. They currently need to raise funds to treat dogs for fleas, worming, infections. Pay for kennel fees, neuturing, food, shade from the sun and any other necessities to keep the cats and dogs safe.
If you can help in any way either by making a small donation, share this post, or take part in walking a mile a day with me and start your own fundraising pot, it will make a huge difference and would mean so much to these animals.
Thank you 💕
