Is your dog only coming partway back when you call them? Do they run towards you, only to stop just out of reach or circle around, ready to dash off again? We’ve created a series of free short videos to help you solve this problem. You’ll learn how to train your dog to sit reliably and calmly in front of you after a recall or retrieve. Follow us to keep up with each step ✅.You’ll need a place board similar to the one in the video. These can be purchased online from @angliandogworks , or if you’re handy with a saw and some screws, you can make one yourself 🪚.Start by luring your dog onto the place board. If they’re hesitant, reward even the smallest effort to get on the board. Once they’re comfortable, only reward them while they’re sitting on the board.Practice luring your dog onto the board and give plenty of praise or food rewards while they sit calmly. Does your spaniel pull on the lead? Meet Affectionate Alf!This loveable English springer spaniel Alf joined us today to work on stopping his lead pulling. Alf is a rescue boy and after a tricky start to life has landed on his paws with the most loving family and life is full of lots of great adventures for him. These would be a bit more enjoyable for Alf and his humans if he learned to walk nicely on the lead without hurting himself or his owners so today we got to work looking at his lead walking. His owners had previously been told Alf was untrainable I think we can congratulate his humans on some excellent training today and great results. Well done team Alf 👏. Golden Boy Doug the loveable Golden Retriever came to us today to work on his lead walking. Doug had been pulling on the lead making walks a headache for his owner, especially around other dogs where his excitement levels made the pulling even worse. We got to work practising the training techniques in isolation and then alongside a selection of other dogs. Doug and dog Dad did fantastically, it was a joy to watch them working together in harmony. Well done to you both 👏

Beautiful boy Vinnie the Bracco Italiano has been with us for nearly 3 weeks on his residential board and train. One of the issues Vinnie’s owners wanted us to work on was his behaviour in cafes and restaurants where he would sometimes try to nip waiting staff. Vinnie has worked really hard visiting numerous pubs, cafes and restaurants (enjoyed lots of tasty complimentary dog treats) and learnt to be neutral and relax. It’s not Vimeo it’s Vineo 🤩😅. Vinnie wants to show you what he’s been working on at his residential training with us. Vinnie joined us to work on some behaviours that were giving his owners a bit of a headache. Namely his dislike for some waiters and waitresses and over protectiveness of the house by not allowing strangers to enter. This was a challenge for his lovely owners as it meant taking Vinnie to cafes or restaurants was stressful and inviting friends over their house for dinner or socialising was becoming impossible. Vinnie checked in with us for a residential training programme targeting these issues. After his fundamental training with us he has progressed to working through staged real world examples of these scenarios and Vinnie has handled it beautifully! This beautiful working cocker spaniel Cooper has joined us on residential dog training to work on his fear of traffic and confidence. Little Cooper is a nervous boy in general and was so scared of traffic that he wouldn’t leave the car if he could see or hear traffic. Cooper has worked really hard with us on a 3 week board and train programme improving his confidence through play and gradual exposure. Cooper the beautiful cocker spaniel is almost half way through his 3 week board and train programme with us. He joined us to work on some issues he was having around traffic and car parks, Cooper was scared to exit the vehicle and would show aggression to his owners or walkers to avoid getting out of the car. Cooper has been working on building his confidence in these types of environments and it’s lovely to see him start to relax whilst he is out around these triggers and to see him now exit the vehicle without aggression. Cooper also would like to bark in the evenings whilst his owners eat or relax so he has worked on learning that after his walk and training he relaxes on his bed which he has really excelled at. Well done Cooper! Lots more work to do before you go home to your wonderful family.
