Fishkeeper Melville recently received three of the most adorable little angry looking fish 🥺🫶

These guys are such a captivating little creatures.

With it’s lumpy, textured body and incredible camouflage, the Warty Frogfish looks more like a sponge or bit of reef than an actual fish - which is exactly the point! It’s a master of disguise and a patient ambush predator 🦐 🌱 👀 🌱

Using a clever lure (called an esca) just above its mouth, it wiggles what looks like a tasty worm to tempt prey within striking distance. And then SNAP! It strikes in milliseconds. You’ll miss it if you blink!

These fish are slow movers, often “walking” across the substrate on their pectoral fins, and they’re full of quirky personality. They’re best kept in a species-only tank or with very carefully chosen tankmates. Anything small enough to be swallowed probably will be.

Easy to grow but does so slowly, this little gem is the perfect foreground plant and will work well in most tanks 🌱

Monday Morning Mudskippers

We didn’t get just one but TWO full trolleys of pond plants at Fishkeeper Melville this week!! 🤩

Morgan has been hard at work getting them all unpacked and looking fantastic 🪻

We’re loving the variety our nursery sent us! From vibrant marginals to crystal-clear oxygenators, there’s something for every pond setup. Don’t forget, we also stock pond plant fertiliser to keep them growing strong! 🪷

Come in and browse while they’re at their best, they won’t hang around for long! 🌊🌻🌸
