Cats Protection Cambridge branch Cambridge branch. Run by volunteers, we care for and rehome local cats, and promote neutering & chips

Cats Protection Cambridge branch is run solely by volunteers. We take in stray and unwanted cats, rehabilitate them and re-home where possible. We do not have a single address you can visit to see our cats; they are looked after by a team of dedicated fosterers in purpose-built pens in gardens or in rooms in the fosterer's own home until a new home can be found for them. We also feed many ferals i

n the area and encourage both neutering and microchipping. We also provide advice to people who have lost their cat, or found an apparently stray cat. If you'd like to donate to our work please visit our web site https://www.cats.org.uk/cambridge or our Amazon wishlist at http://amzn.eu/fHQD1wf - thank you!

Gratitude to Fulbourn Ladies Group for their excellent turnout and lovely donation after our fosterers Sarah and Phil gave a gardening talk. We are glad everyone found it interesting, and thanks also to Sarah and Phil for their green-fingered fundraising. The talk was also given the feline seal of approval 😻

Will and Grace (now Liv and Loki) were rehomed in October and have clearly settled in well. The "cat palace" is used daily as it looks out into the garden and birds and provides hours of watching in between the sleeping. Liv is more a home cat, but Loki is the explorer and can often be found outside. The owners are now very attached to this gorgeous pair❤

Loki is a 2 year old neutered male cat looking for a new owner who will give him lots of cuddles and love ahead of Valentine's Day next week.

His favourite hobbies are playing with fishing rod toys and birdwatching. When Loki arrived in foster care, he had lost lots of hair due to stress and overgrooming. Under the dedicated care of his volunteer fosterer, he is making a full recovery and is looking very handsome.

We think he'd prefer not to be with other cats, but will probably be OK with older children.

PLEASE NOTE: All of our cats for adoption MUST be homed where a cat flap provides them with access to an enclosed garden. We don't home on or near busy or main roads or railway tracks.

Please call 01223 528312 to enquire about homing Loki.

Teddy was rehomed from us recently. As you can see, he is settling in well to the cosiest places in his new home. And he proves how happy he is by purring loudly when on a lap or having a fuss ❤🐾

We recently received this wonderful success story from adopters of a mum and kitten in our care. Take a few minutes with a cuppa to read Treacle and Tunnocks' story ❤🐾

We have always adopted rescue cats. We trust Cats Protection to do the best for all the cats and kittens that come into their care. We also always adopt black/tuxedo cats, as they are the least likely to be adopted and the most likely to be abandoned/mistreated. (We know some cultures consider them unlucky, but honestly, they’re the sweetest, loveliest cats!)
When we recently lost our two older cats, our house was empty and quiet. While we will miss them always, we knew that we needed to honour their memory by adopting 2 more cats and giving them a loving home. Naturally, we turned to Cambridge Cats Protection, through our wonderful cat sitters (Fulbourn Cat Sitting), and made a request for 2 black or tuxedo cats/kittens.
Our contact with the fosterer was excellent – she listened to what kinds of cats we might like and understood that we could take care of timid/nervous cats, given our previous cats. She assessed our home, and us, to make sure that we were the perfect match for our potential adoptees. Most important, her concern was that the cats would respond well to us, not just that we’d like them.
So, we met Evie (2) and her kitten, Tim (5 mths). Tim (for timid) was particularly nervous and would need special care. Within moments of meeting them, we knew that we loved them. Thankfully, they responded well to us too. Phew! Evie became Treacle and Tim became Tunnocks.
After 2 months, we are delighted with Treacle and Tunnocks, and we believe they are with us. They have settled in brilliantly. Treacle is the sweetest, most loving cat, who gives cat kisses. She enjoys being near us and exploring our garden. Tunnocks has lost a lot of his shyness and nervousness and is a rambunctious kitten who loves to explore. He has the loudest purr and loves to talk! He enjoys sleeping in the sunroom or conservatory, keeping an eye on the garden visitors. Both Treacle and Tunnocks love giving cuddles.
They make us smile every day and we feel very lucky that we were matched with them.

Sydney has sent these photos to show how much he enjoys his lovely new home ❤ He was adopted recently from our care. His owner reports: Sydney is a lovely boy, very affectionate, noisy and nosey. He’s certainly made himself at home, any free lap and he’s on it. He loves to look into the garden and will be going out to explore soon 🐾

Another Happy Ever After story from Fig and Bertie who have a lovely home after difficult beginnings. Fig (black cat) was abandoned by her mum in a feral colony at 3 weeks old. She was bottle fed by a dedicated fosterer volunteer and eventually rehomed a year ago.
Bertie (black and white) was born living rough in a shed and with a back foot missing. Our branch cared for him and funded his vet treatment. After being fostered for a few weeks he went to live with Fig and they are now firm friends. They both live the best life now with a loving family in a great house with access to a safe garden with a catflap.
And... their mothers have since been spayed, so there are two fewer feral mums producing kittens.
