NEW TO NELLS NIBBLES

Large dehydrated rabbit ears.

Responsibly sourced with hair on.

Did you know that the hair on these rabbit ears has long been regarded as a natural wormer?

When the hairs pass through the intestines, they work like a brush and do two things at once. They gently remove undigested food away improving the intestines ability to absorb nutrients and although not completely effective alone, one ear a week is proven to maintain a low parasite count removing worms & their eggs from the intestine!!

Other benefits of treating your dog to a rabbit ear are:
Dehydrated ears act as a toothbrush helping to remove plaque from your dogs teeth
Fibre from the hair helps to firm up stools and therefore aids in keeping healthy, working a**l glands
Dogs with multiple allergies are rarely found to be allergic to the novel rabbit proteins making them a safe treat
Chewing has been proven to trigger a release of endorphins helping to keep your dog relaxed and less anxious

Freshly dehydrated these ears will keep for six months in an air tight container or up to 12 months frozen.

At approx 8-10” long and priced at just £1 each these are a must for your dog whatever it’s age or size 🐾🐾🐾

These will be added to the website in the next day or so and there is a limited number available to gauge interest - order soon or miss out!

It has been a tough 7 days in the NN household but she is finally home! 🐾💕🐶

After what I thought was a progressively nasty flare of pancreatitis starting last Sunday I took her to the vets on Tuesday afternoon. He examined her and left to go and book her an X-ray for the following day. When he returned he agreed that she was worse and said he would admit her straight away and do X-rays then.
I left my baby and went back to the office so I was close by waiting for news. An hour later he called to say he was referring her to a specialist and could I come and get her. The X-rays showed a diaphragmatic hernia and her stomach and some of her large bowel was in her chest cavity and the lung was depleted and her heart was squashed to the side and struggling 😢
By this time I am crying stupidly but manage to get her in the car and on our way to the referral hospital. Traffic was horrendous, traffic lights, road closures you name it! And to top it off she started to retch and her breathing was intensely laboured - I wasn’t sure she was going to make it.
She was assessed and admitted to ICU where they stabilised her overnight. My heart was breaking - this is my soul mate 💔
On Wednesday mid morning when she was stable enough she had a number of CT scans. The vet called me to ask if they could take her down to surgery immediately as her lung had collapsed, her heart and other lung were under immense pressure and her stomach, spleen, pancreas and her large and small bowel were all in her chest cavity!!
It was 70-30% chance of survival but despite the heart stopping (mine not hers thankfully!) cost the surgeon was instructed to go ahead (nothing related to her stomach is covered under insurance 🙄). That was Wednesday at 12.00…
2.5 hours later I had a call to say she was in recovery and surgery had been successful however they had to remove her spleen as it had been twisted going through the hernia into the chest and had early signs of sepsis. The up side was it gave them more room to get everything back into her tummy!
Nell is a mummy’s girl and has been since the day we rescued her so we made the decision to bring her home to recover instead of moving from ICU to a general ward as this would be very stressful for her.
She’s on pain meds, a little wobbly on her feet and not really in the mood for much in the way of food yet (except Nell’s Nibbles Liver Treats) but she is home and I could not be happier!
It will be a looong few weeks before she is allowed out for a 10 min walk but as long as she starts to listen to me and understand that her movements are restricted for a very good reason we will get there!!
Welcome home Nellie - we all 💕 you very much! ###

We may be a little quiet here at NN HQ at the moment but we are busy working behind the scenes every weekend to get the new kitchen operational (we will have to come up with another name for it though as saying 'its in the kitchen' is becoming a little confusing at home!) Any ideas?

We are fully stocked with lovely fresh treats so don't be shy - order today!

Spinach

A super food if ever there was one and so good for your dogs health.

I always pinch off the stalks of the spinach leaf as they can be very fibrous and I like a nice smooth ‘dough’ for when I hand cut every single nibble out!

Spinach contains vitamins A,B,C and K, is full of iron, beta-carotene, antioxidants and roughage. Great for digestive health!

Each batch of Pumpkin & PeaMutt contains no less than 80g of fresh, finely chopped baby spinach (only the best for our dogs!) to help maintain healthy, happy pooches!

Locally sourced pumpkins that have been hidden away in my pantry until such a morning (grey, overcast and windy!). Thank you SmartGreensUK! Still as fresh and lovely as they were when they were harvested!

We don’t like to waste anything here so the seeds are being dehydrated and powdered and the pulp and flesh is being slow cooked to soften it and puréed to make the base for our Pumpkin & PeaMutt Nibbles. Also going to try dehydrating strips of ‘skin’ into tasty snacks…..let’s see how that goes shall we?!

Did you know that pumpkin seeds are beneficial for your dogs health?

Containing the amino acid cucurbitin it acts as a natural de-wormer. Paralysing and eliminating tape worms and other intestinal parasites!

It can help to dislodge kidney stones and aid in the prevention of recurrent stones.

Is high in Omega 3 fatty acid which improves the condition of both skin and coat.

High finer content improves and regulates digestion to prevent constipation.

A proper little gem!

Just 1/4 of a teaspoon per 10lbs of weight on their food daily provides your pooch with all of these natural benefits.

We also stock whole seeds as many dogs are happy to eat them this way enjoying the taste of them.

Not looking pretty at the moment but it’s coming along! Mr NN himself is doing all the work for me and has been busy on the plumbing bits today. (I may have just mentioned that I did well to marry him 😂😂🙊)

There will be a delay while we way for the units as my bestie is gifting them to me but we will do everything we can to get it ship shape ready for that day. (That’s the royal ‘we’ as I just fetch and carry! 😂)

Won’t be long before we can bulk make Nibbles like I’ve only dreamed of! 🐾 🐾 🐶

28/01/2022

We have some exciting news.......hubby has foregone his gym and sold his equipment and is gifting the space to Nell's Nibbles! We are now in the process of running the relevant electrics and plumbing and will be turning it into our very own kitchen! So excited!! Means I can now buy even bigger and better dehydrators and keep up with orders (and not make all the bedrooms smell like liver which is a huge bonus as far as the kids are concerned) as it is a separate building to the side of the house. Can't wait to show you pictures when it's finished!

In the meantime we are still operational so continue to order your treats for your beloved pooches! x

Nell looking very ‘foxy’ 😂 in her new jumper - that tail tells its own story 💕

Did you know that pancreatic conditions react to the cold? In Nell’s case getting cold brings on an attack so we have learnt over time if we don’t want a disaster on Christmas Day (true story - just as the meat came out to rest no less!) we keep her in jumpers! She pretty much wears one from October to March/April and it does make a difference.

Anyway - back to Nell….. doesn’t she look cute? 😍😍

WHY DOGS LIVE LESS THAN HUMAN

Here's the surprising answer of a 6 year old child.

Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish Wolfhound named Belker. The dog’s owners, Ron, his wife Lisa, and their little boy Shane, were all very attached to Belker, and they were hoping for a miracle.

I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family we couldn’t do anything for Belker, and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home.

As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be good for six-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane might learn something from the experience.

The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker‘s family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on. Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away.

The little boy seemed to accept Belker’s transition without any difficulty or confusion. We sat together for a while after Belker’s Death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that dogs' lives are shorter than human lives. Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, ”I know why.”

Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next stunned me. I’d never heard a more comforting explanation. It has changed the way I try and live.

He said, ”People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life — like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?” The six-year-old continued,

”Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don’t have to stay for as long as we do.”

Live simply.
Love generously.
Care deeply.
Speak kindly.

Remember, if a dog was the teacher you would learn things like:

• When your loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
• Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.
• Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure Ecstasy.
• Take naps.
• Stretch before rising.
• Run, romp, and play daily.
• Thrive on attention and let people touch you.
• Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
• On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.
• On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.
• When you’re happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
• Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
• Be faithful.
• Never pretend to be something you’re not.
• If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
• When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by, and nuzzle them gently.

That's the secret of happiness that we can learn from a good dog.
