Horse Riding Instructor

I have extensive experience with horses and am a qualified riding instructor. I have been riding since I was 8 years old and have worked with young horses backing and schooling my own horses and on behalf of clients. I have particularly enjoyed working with horses that are difficult and not straight forward as I love the challenge and the results are so rewarding.

I have competed in all disciplines namely showjumping, dressage and cross country and have really enjoyed this aspect, particularly as the horses I have owned have always been brought on and schooled by myself.

In more recent years I have had the pleasure of taking my passion of instructing to a new level and have been able to work with vulnerable young adults who, for whatever reason, have struggled in a traditional classroom environment. I have worked in settings where the young adults have complex needs so I have managed to develop my approach so that it is totally inclusive regardless of the challenges that the individual faces. The results that I have seen have been truly remarkable and have given these young people purpose, drive, self confidence and an enthusiasm that they had never previously experienced.

In addition to my Instructing experience I have worked in school settings including primary, secondary and behavioural units. I have been an Equine yard manager in a specialist SEN environment. I have been a development mentor and assistant head of year 11 with a responsibility for anti-bullying. I have also set up a horse riding club for SEN pupils at secondary school.
