Last night we had a black and white female cat brought into our Newport hospital. Sadly she had already passed over the rainbow bridge. She was found near the traffic lights off of Parkhurst Road in Newport.

She is microchipped but unfortunately the chip isn't registered so we are unable to make contact with owners.

Please call 01983 522804 if you think she may be yours. 🌈😪

Please share to help us find her family ❤️

Betsie the German Shepherd visited us for her 2nd vaccinations while she is on holiday on the Island. She was more than happy to give Daisy, our Student Nurse some birthday cuddles this morning ❤️

Daisy is here with us for a few more weeks on her temporary placement, she will be heading off to pastures new to complete her studies. We want to wish Daisy the best of luck in her new practice and we really hope she comes back to us once she has fully qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse! 🙏

Happy Birthday and good luck for the future Daisy!

Finding a stray cat🐱

If you find a cat you think may be a stray, you should firstly look for the owner. Use posters, social media, knocking on doors to see if they can be located. Make sure the cat is safe and has access to water.

Next we need to scan for a microchip, this can be done at your local practice. This should help us locate the owners much faster. We will examine the cat to see if any injuries have been sustained.

Aslong as the microchip details are up to date we can contact the owners and reunite the cat safely. Otherwise we will contact local charities and the RSPCA to provide care until we can locate the owners.

It is very important all microchip details are up to date as this reduces the chances of cats being reunited with the correct owners. It is now a legal requirement for all cats to be microchipped before they reach 20 weeks of age.

If your pet is on The Healthy Pets Club this is included in their plan. Call your local branch for more information🐾

🐰 Rabbit Awareness Week 🐰

The minimum sizing requirement for two average sized rabbits to live in is 2mX3mX1m high. There should always be access to a sleeping area, toileting area and exercise area.

The reason it is so important for rabbits to have enough space is so they can display all their natural behaviours including: Running, jumping, digging, and foraging.

Enrichment to include in their housing can include things like:
- Tunnels
- Willow Balls
- Puzzle Feeders
- Cardboard Boxes
- Dig Boxes
- Turf Trays
- Snuffle Mats

This will prevent them getting board and start planning escape routes.

Rabbit Awareness Week🐰

Top tips coming this week….🐾

Today is all about vaccinations💉

A common myth is that if your pet doesn’t come in to contact with others, they do not need to be vaccinated. This is untrue.

Rabbits can become infected by insects which bite for example fleas and mosquitoes. They feed off the blood of infected rabbits a few fields or streets away, and then come and pay your bunny a visit!

Please contact your nearest branch for more information about vaccinating and protecting your rabbit.🐰
