We had the pleasure of looking after beautiful Olive today 🤍
Olive's owners opted for a laparoscopic spay and this is her journey!
This alternative to traditional spays offers a less invasive surgery and allows for reduced recovery time.
Olive had her ovaries removed with a camera and vessel sealing device through a keyhole incision with our skilled surgeon Sara!
Olive recovered well and was a very brave girl 💕

Jasper is a happy and active 7 year old Border Collie. Jasper’s owner brought him into Pet Doctors Animal Hospital earlier this month after he had been sick, quiet and generally not feeling very well. During his consultation with our veterinary team, the signs, symptoms and examination findings were consistent with those of a possible foreign body and he underwent imaging investigations that confirmed our suspicions.
After initial stabilisation, Jasper underwent an emergency intestinal surgery. Our major concern was the extensive damage that the foreign body had already done to his small intestine. Fortunately, the problem was addressed before the intestine could rupture. The damaged part of the intestine had to be removed as it was no longer viable and the surgeon skilfully reconnected the delicate end of the remaining intestine (anastomosis) to complete the enterectomy procedure. The abdomen was gently washed (lavage) with warmed saline before closing.
After the operation, he was hospitalised and closely monitored by our dedicated nursing team. Within hours of the surgery, he was happily eating and showing signs of a good recovery. Jasper spent 24h in hospital before being deemed well enough to return home. He has since been doing well at his follow-up appointments and we were all delighted by his excellent progress.
Today Jasper is back to his old self and we just love seeing his enjoyment when it comes time to play ‘fetch’ with his wonderful owner. A happy ending for all!

Steven the 2nd release back on the River Medina
Yesterday we had the pleasure of releasing a young seagull back onto the River Medina. He was recently brought in with a foot injury, and after some medication and respite, he was fit to be released by our wonderful student nurse Karen 😊
Such a lovely sight ❤️
