🪙 🐶 Penny is looking rather plump! She’s due any day now. 🐾🥰

When it comes to raising happy, well-adjusted puppies, it all starts with the mother—the dam. Her emotional and physical well-being during pregnancy plays a huge role in shaping her puppies’ future behavior and health.

🌟 **Why Does This Matter?**
Stress hormones like cortisol are passed from the dam to her unborn puppies through the placenta. If the dam is stressed, anxious, or poorly cared for, these elevated stress hormones can impact the development of the puppies' brains. Puppies born to stressed mothers are often more prone to anxiety, fearfulness, and even aggression later in life.

On the other hand, when the dam is happy, calm, and well-cared for during her pregnancy, her puppies are more likely to be confident, emotionally stable, and easier to train.

💡 **The Science Made Simple**:
The brain of an unborn puppy is incredibly sensitive to its environment. When a dam experiences stress, her body releases cortisol, which affects the puppies’ developing stress response systems. Puppies exposed to too much stress in the womb may develop an overactive fight-or-flight response, making them more reactive and less resilient to new experiences.

✨ **What This Means for Breeders and Owners**:
- A dam should always be loved, cared for, and given a calm, stress-free environment.
- Proper nutrition, gentle exercise, and plenty of affection aren’t just good for her—they set her puppies up for success!
- Happy moms raise happy pups. It's that simple!

When choosing a puppy, always ask about the dam’s care and temperament during pregnancy. A responsible breeder prioritizes the mental and physical health of the mother as much as the pups themselves.

A calm mom means confident, well-rounded puppies ready to take on the world! 🐕❤️

Had a lovely lunch at molsbistro in St Clears this afternoon. Absolutely delicious and a wonderful, calm setting. They even have two resident Therapy Dogs which were impeccably behaved and a brilliant addition to the cafe.
I can highly recommend, the Therapy Dogs are a fantastic idea and very beneficial for those who go there.

🐾 **Training Tip of the Day!** 🐾

Does your dog struggle with focus or get easily distracted? Here's a quick exercise to help:

🦴 **Name Recognition Drill**
1️⃣ Say your dog’s name in a happy tone.
2️⃣ When they look at you, immediately reward them with a treat or praise.
3️⃣ Repeat this a few times in a quiet setting, then try it in slightly more distracting environments.

💡 Building a strong response to their name is the foundation for better focus and communication in all situations. Give it a try!
