This month has been a bittersweet one. I had my final visits with these beautiful faces.
I've so enjoyed spending the last few years looking after you all and it feels weird closing this chapter of the business.
A huge thank you to all of you for letting me be part of their lives, I feel very humbled you chose me 😊

Sniffy walks are the best walks

Wow! 10yrs ago I had my first dog to walk and set off on my new career path 💜🐾
A lot has happened over the last decade, I've met lots of amazing animals and people. And I'm eternally grateful for the support I've had.
Each and everyone of you mean the world to me. You've allowed me to do a job I love and not many people can say that 😍
The business has taken me down paths I hadn't believed would be possible.
There's some changes afoot now.
With a heavy heart I'll no longer be offering pet sitting. It's a part of the job I really do love and I've met some amazing characters over the years. But other parts of my business are getting busier and since cloning isn't really a thing yet I have to realise I'm only 1 person and can't do everything.
I want to say a big thank you to all my customers past and present who have trusted me to be part of their lives 😘
For a long time I've been unable to accommodate new dogs for walking. This will not change in the future. The gang is perfect as they are and as they get older we'll be sticking to more sedate, relaxing walks.
Thank you for a cracking decade that I would not change for the world 🐾
Ps you'll still see me out walking and offering all the dog training services with East Coast Dog Training

A quick heads up for those of you who walk at Newhailes. It appears the water in the burn has been contaminated so please keep your dog away from the water.

‼️Please share‼️
We are, unfortunately, currently experiencing a small parvovirus outbreak in young dogs. Some of these dogs have had both of their puppy vaccinations. There have been NO cases in adult dogs that have received their booster vaccination(s).
We suspect that this may be due to a high environmental burden of the virus locally that is managing to break through some dogs’ immunities.
In response to this we are offering a further Parvovirus booster vaccination for all dogs aged 4 months to 10 months.
Our phone lines are currently extremely busy so PLEASE EMAIL RATHER THAN PHONE and you will be allocated a vaccination appointment. The parvovirus vaccination will cost £30.
For dogs currently aged 11-14 months we would recommend that you bring forward their 1st annual vaccination. Again PLEASE EMAIL THE SURGERY on the appropriate email address given above and we will organise an appointment time for you.
Symptoms of parvovirus include lethargy, inappetance, vomiting and diarrhoea.

Which type of dog do you have?
A lot of us still think socialising just means getting our new dog to meet other dogs. It's more complex than that but that's for another post. This post is to get you thinking are you doing the right thing for your dog.
Within my 6 dogs I have 2 dog social, 2 dog tolerant and 2 dog selective. My previous dogs were dog aggressive.
Most of my dogs are through rescue, differing breeds and I don't know their background before they came to me.
My dog social ones are both rescues and different breeds. My dog tolerant 2 are different breeds but one I've had from a pup and one I haven't. The 2 dog selective are the same split.
Just like people who have different preferences for the personality type they interact with so does your dog.
It's ok to have an aggressive type. Your dog needs you to support them and their previous experiences have taught them how to behave like this. You do not have a bad dog, you have a dog that needs help & support.
It's ok to have a selective type. Your dog is not rude, not been socialised enough, not scared or whatever other stupid comment another dog owner has told you.
It's ok to have a tolerant type. If this is your dog then this is great but be careful not to take advantage of their tolerating nature and put them in too many tolerating situations. You want your dog to enjoy being out with you and trust you will make good decisions for them.
It's ok to have the social type. Just make sure they don't want to share their joy and sociability with the selective or aggressive type. If the social dog gets too many party pooper moments they may become a
selective type.
When out walking be aware of which personality type you have and the impact of your decisions have on them or other dogs you may meet. Accept your dog for the personality they have.
A good trainer will be able to help you with any of the above type of personality as walks can be a bit stressful especially for the selective and aggressive type. But please don't be offended if they suggest group classes are not the place for your dog at the moment. You want to enjoy training your dog and putting them in a position that they find difficult won't help either of you.
So next time your out on a walk have a think about all the personality types and how/if they would like to interact with your dog

A wee bit about me
From small beginnings working in various pet shops to becoming involved with my local dog training club. I then launched Becky's Pet Services in 2012. Bringing all my knowledge that I'd gained over 15 years with me.
I might offer the same services as many other pet business owners. But what makes me different is the time and energy I put into improving my knowledge about how to best care for your family members.
When I'm not caring for your pet I'm spending time with my gang. I love competing in agility with some of my dogs, I also love doing some nose work and scent classes with the others.
Attending seminars, workshops & courses is another passion of mine. In 2017 I became a member of The Institute of Modern Dog trainers. I'm also a proud member of the Pet Professional Guild British Isles. In 2018 I became a Fear Free certified professional.
