🐾 Did you know that the dog training and behaviour industry is not robustly regulated? Unfortunately anyone can call themselves a trainer or behaviourist - regardless of their experience or approach to training and/or behaviour modification.
🐾 So it’s really important to use an accredited trainer, clinical animal behaviourist or vet behaviourist who can work with you, your vet (if required) and your dog in beginning a reward-based training and/or behaviour modification plan.
🐾 If you're looking for a trainer or behaviourist and find someone who isn't accredited by the Animal Behaviour and Training Council (ABTC), it's a good idea to shop around and look for someone who is.
🐾 ABTC accredited practitioners have been independently assessed to ensure that their academic knowledge, practical handling skills and techniques used meet the ABTC's strict criteria. The approach to training and/or behaviour modification will be modern and reward-based.
