Hello, I’d like to introduce myself to you all as the face behind Happy Tails and Muddy Trails!
My name is Kellie, I am 26 years old and live in Leeds.
For the last 3 years I’ve been working as a Student Veterinary Nurse in an emergency practice. Unfortunately, the demand of the job, the long hours, uncertain shift patterns and studying on top of working full-time took their toll and so I decided I wanted a job that would allow me to have a steadier work-life balance.
From a young age I have always had a passion for animals and their welfare and have supported groups such as WWF and Greenpeace from a young age, often asking family members to adopt an animal or for subscriptions to wildlife fact files instead of receiving birthday and Christmas gifts.
I have had over 7 dogs in my lifetime and many other animals along the way, including hamsters, rabbits, guinea pigs and mice! I currently have two pets, Barney – a 10.5 year old Labrador who accompanies me to most events (where there is a Kellie, there is a Barney!) and Peanut, a 1 year old cat who was found as a stray in a taped-up cardboard box – if I had the space and time for more, however, you bet I would!
As a young girl I would often be in the garden looking for bugs, birds and small furries, going to nature reserves, farms and zoos, at horse riding lessons or playing in the garden with my dogs. These hobbies have followed me into my adult life and I love sharing my knowledge and passion with others. After studying Animal Management at college, I worked a couple of jobs to get me by until I finally found a job as a receptionist in a veterinary surgery totalling 5+ years’ experience within the industry.
After a very difficult decision to leave nursing, I wanted a career that would combine my love for the outdoors and animals, and what better way to do that than being a dog walker?!
I will be based in Burley, Hyde Park, Headingley and Meanwood. I will be posting my price list and taking bookings over the next couple of days. If you have any enquiries please don’t hesitate to drop a message.
Happy Friday🌳🤎🍃
