Last night I was going over old footage to use in my current studies. I stumbled across a very familiar looking dog…

In fact strikingly similar to a dog I worked with at Cheltenham Animal Shelter only 3 months ago… these two dogs bare identical markings and have the same name…

I now believe they are the same dog…

I’m a firm believer in fate, and believe fate intended for me to cross paths with Ozzy once again…

Do you have multiple small children and multiple dogs?

LISTEN UP ⬆️ 👂

Having been a Professional Dog Walker for almost 8 years, I’m extremely adept in most environments with multiple dogs… until that is my children are present. One of the main concerns of a Professional Dog Walker, is managing the groups environment effectively;

✅ Giving space to the general public
✅ Navigating other dog walkers and owners
✅ Avoiding livestock
✅ Giving dogs on lead lots of space (avoid ideally)
✅ Keeping the group together and prevent roaming
✅ Collecting all 💩

If I can’t effectively manage all of the above when I’m working, I use secure fields.

For my own dogs and children, it’s a game changer, hugely enjoyable and rewarding for EVERYONE.

I can keep a close eye on my children without having to worry about any of the above (apart from 💩) it takes the pressure off entirely.

Not only this it gives my dogs the option to interact with my children, or do their own thing and enjoy their environment ❤️ there’s no pressure on ANYONE 💯

Give it a try! It’s the one activity that all my crew can collectively enjoy and nobody wants to leave when our hour is up 🤣 ⏰

Marking turning into 2025 with my very own IN HOUSE win over New Years!

Gus has always been frightened of fireworks. I have tried everything, with little success… until I tried Taiko drums… expertly recommended by the amazing two years ago on a Bonfire Night post!

Since I saw Aileen’s post, I have put Taiko drums on the lead up bonfire night, 2024 just a few weeks back, was no exception.

In this last year, my partner bought us an Amazon Echo… for anyone that has one, you will know the device learns your preferences… so rather amusingly (only to me) when you ask ‘Alexa’ to put the radio on, she will dutifully play Taiko drums every single time.

I have the radio on A LOT, I hate silence, so especially when my kids aren’t home, I need background noise. The radio also religiously goes on when I leave the house, even for short periods. So all of the dogs have been listening to Taiko drums… sometimes multiple times a day…

You can probably see how this story ends 🥁

Last night, the fireworks started around where I live about 4pm, then came in dribs and drabs until 11.15 where they were pretty consistent past 1am…

Gus barked maybe 8 times TOTAL the whole evening. This was only when they were at their loudest and repetitive! My partner having owned him from a pup, was shocked…

…’Your stupid drums seem to have worked’… which to those that know my Ben is a compliment 🤣

The drums have acted as a form of habituation, a technique where the dog is repeatedly exposed to a stimulus over a period of time. AND IT HAS WORKED.

Now I was going to start asking Alexa to start playing actual radio… but after last night, the drums will be staying!!!

For context guys, this has been a 14/15 month slow burner… constants, repetitive and non - invasive. Imagine how boring the video would be if I’d tried to film it! Can you imagine me filming my dog listening to drums for over 400 days!!

My gorgeous Ozzy who I worked with on 2nd Chance Hero’s STILL has not found his forever home 😞 over 500 days in kennels!

This boy is so so capable, so loving, someone out there must be looking for a gazelle/dog in their lives ❤️
