For the last few years I have had the honour of writing about Cat Behaviour for the Your Cat Magazine, but sadly this month's edition will be the last.

However, the Magazine isn’t disappearing completely, just moving with the times. And with this in mind I’m delighted to say that it’s been reincarnated as a Podcast, and I'll be contributing as their Cat Behaviourist. The first episode is out now, and in it I'll be talking about how we can help our cats keep calm during what can sometimes be a stressful time for them and us!

This is just the first of what we hope will be many podcasts which will no doubt be fine-tuned and include more of the items you want to hear about. Do let me know if there's anything you would like featured about cats in general or any aspect of cat behaviour which you'd like to understand more about.

I would like to apologise for mine and my mum's absence. My human grandad has been very poorly so Mum has been a bit tied up and not able to post. Being an old gent myself, I know how grandad feels, so spend much of my time these days snoozing and still looking cute.

I took some extra honeysuckle toys to yesterday for this gorgeous serval and a stunning caracal. I was told that the caracal played with his kicker after I left! 😸

The leopard sized honeysuckle kicker I made was for this beautiful clouded leopard that I visited yesterday at . This will be incorporated into his enrichment programme. He had a cautious sniff, but decided he wanted his rat meal first!

Not a very appealing pic granted, but my latest article in Your Cat Magazine is the first of three which form part of a new project called The Cat Wellbeing Study.

In the coming months the study will be taking a closer look at our cats' diet, enrichment, social interactions, and territory and giving advice on managing that part of their life. Unlike other articles, these have an interactive element for readers to engage with.

My first contribution focusses on enrichment and includes a survey for you to complete followed by advice on optimising your cat's environment. If you compare your answers with the advice you can see how well (or otherwise) you're doing!
