Hi Lovely dog guardians.
August has been a quiet few weeks, so I've taken the opportunity to enjoy the lovely weather and catch up on some much needed rest and with chores at home, but as Autumn is not far away and slightly cooler weather is upon us it makes it easier to exercise our dogs during the day time now the extreme hot weather is abating.
I am back and have availability for bookings next week and then from mid September onwards.

Hello Pet guardians
Some of you will have seen my posts, however sometimes it's difficult to take the leap to use a professional pet sitter or dog walker, after all you are entrusting your pets someone you have never met and allowing them access to your home.
So I wanted to write a little bit about why I set up my business how I have, and what my services entail.
So who am I ?
I'm a life long animal lover and pet guardian but before I founded my business 6 years ago I realised that loving animals isn't enough to be able look after people's pets. Being a ethical pet carer comes with a lot of responsibly and knowledge so that you have peace of mind with your chosen pet professional (whoever that may be)
I have completed a number of courses in canine training and reactive behaviours in dogs and recognising body language signs is important for the dogs welfare needs.

My main services are :

🐾 Dog walking. This service is done on single household basis.

🐾 My walks are about providing sole attention and safety for the dogs on my care

🐾 If your dog is worried by excessively busy places I find quieter locations so they can learn to relax and I always encourage sniffing which is important for dogs to read their environment through scenting and marking.

🐾 Before any services are started I provide a meet and greet service so we can mutually decide that we are the 'right match' for each other and to complete the pet profile forms, and go through the T&c',s before booking the dates you need, whether it's a regular walk or occasional visit

My other service is

🐾Pet sitting:

This service involves the same booking system as for dog walking but I live at your house with your pets for the duration of the stay.
🐾The advantage of this arrangement is obviously that your pets stay in familiar surroundings and routines.
🐾 when I stay at your home I limit my dog walking bookings so your pets aren't left too long.
🐾 Light housework is carried out , bins put out etc
🐾 Regular updates are sent to you .

I'm so sick of seeing videos of dogs being caused more DISTRESS under the title "TRAINING"
PLEASE don't follow these quick fix techniques.
Imposing our will on frightened , freaked out dogs that are over threshold will never teach them to make good choices in the presence of their triggers .
They're not broken and don't need fixing they need our understanding and support.
I will happily guide anyone in the right direction to start a harmonious teamship with their canine pals .
Remember your dogs behaviours are caused by a mixture of
Biology
Physiology and
Psychology
In response to how we treat them and the environment they are in .

I thought I'd share some exciting news with you.
My small business is turning six and what a roller coaster it has been navigating through the last 4 years has not been easy with the Covid pandemic that has touched us all in some way, but with the support of my lovely customers, friends , and other pet professional colleagues in my groups we have buoyed each other on and kept our spirits up and we made it through.

Hi dog guardians.
I'm Odette Hart and I run my independent dog walking and pet sitting business near the local towns of Woodhall spa and Horncastle .
I am just coming up to my 6th year of business ( in April).
I promised myself that I would push myself out of my comfort zone this year because for the past 3 years things and life changing events that have happened in my personal life have caused me to have anxiety and I have made my world too small shying away from my dreams and goals.
I need to get back on track as I love what I do.

So my goals for this year is to try and get my new service up and running to compliment my existing services.

Sadly the dog industry is currently in a crazy place with so much conflict going on between POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT TRAINERS to try improve the welfare of training dogs ethically and moving away from BALANCE Trainers
There is too much outdated advice still drip fed in social media and its ultimately the dogs that are suffering the consequences in one form or another and causing confusion for pet guardians .
PLEASE if you are struggling with your dog do not use a trainer that uses old fashioned methods , i'm happy to be messaged and point you in the right direction of ETHICAL trainers .
Training dogs is journey not an event. it takes time for the dog to understand what the human is asking .
we have to take training slowly and gradually proof the behaviours that are desirable to us by rewarding the dog and NEVER using harsh handling , quick fix gadgets or other methods of punishment as this only destroys trust and causes unnecessary stress and distress to the dog ( or any animal)

Privacy is important to my customers , this is why you don't see many pictures on my business page .
All video footage and photos taken of customers dogs during a services period are sent directly to the owner.
Also it's security for myself as anyone can see and follow posts I put up on my page and I don't want people knowing when I am out of the house .

Working with dogs is wonderful and rewarding.
However it is not all fluffy, its hard work and a lot of responsibility looking after other people's dogs and keeping them safe.
We have legal.requirements we need to fulfill as well as ethically looking after them and their welfare needs.
Being self employed we have lots of work behind the scenes that we don't actually get paid for to keep our prices affordable.
It helps us if we ask people to share our posts to keep our advertising costs down .
