• RECEPTIONIST / ANIMAL HANDLING ASSISTANT
An opportunity has arisen for a part-time position within our friendly team! The role is ideally a mixed one involving both administrative work as well as animal handling, assisting the vets with procedures and patient care. Consideration will be given to an admin only role however. Full training will be provided, but confidence in working around animals is essential, as well as basic IT skills. Excellent communication skills are vital. Currently this position is advertised as a temporary role, however the opportunity for a permanent position exists for the right candidate. Must be able to work a regular Saturday morning shift.

Today we have helped Davy Bell to draw his competition to win one of his fabulous photos! We hosted his picture and the competition in our marquee at Wigtown Show to raise money for Port William Inshore Rescue Service and are delighted to announce a total of £500 raised!

It’s almost time…..!
This Wednesday (6th August) the practice will be CLOSED as we are once again in attendance as main sponsors at Wigtown Show! 🐄 🐑 🐓 🐎 ☕️ 🍰 🍻 💃🏼
This year we are delighted to be assisting the very talented gunnerb13 (Davy Bell) to raise money for Port William Inshore Rescue Service. Davy is offering a stunning framed photo (see the third picture on this post) up for grabs… just come and visit us in our marquee on show day to enter. All proceeds will be generously donated by Davy to PIRSAC 🌊 🚤 🦸‍♂️.
We hope to welcome lots of our clients to the marquee on Wednesday - we will have hot drinks and home baking on offer all day, as well as some cold beverages 🍾 🍻 later on! Looking forward to seeing you all there!

🚨 BLUETONGUE VIRUS UPDATE 🚨

We have today received confirmation of a cow testing positive for Bluetongue virus in Cumbria. This is the closest case to Scotland so far and you can see from the map below how close this is to us in particular as the crow (or midge!) flies.
We would like to reiterate our advice to all our clients who keep cattle and/or sheep to vaccinate your stock as soon as possible.

Can anyone help?

We are searching for a canine blood donor to help us treat another dog urgently in need.

Can your dog give blood?

For your dog to give blood, they must meet certain criteria. Your dog’s welfare is always our priority and so for them to be a lifesaver they must be:

- fit and healthy
- between 1 - 8 years old
- weigh more than 25kg
- have a good, calm temperament
- never have travelled outside the UK & Ireland
- be vaccinated
- not be on any medication

We are a proudly independent practice seeking an enthusiastic colleague to join working in our brand new, purpose-built premises.

The position is predominantly a SA role, however the practice has a genuinely mixed workload and there will be some opportunity for LA work.

CPD is fully funded and the successful applicant will be encouraged to further their own interests.

We are a proudly independent new start-up practice who are expanding in size, with a small and experienced team promising a warm welcome and great support to our new colleague within brand new, purpose-built premises.

Our workload is genuinely mixed with a 50/50 split between SA and LA and a 1:5 rota. The successful applicant will be encouraged to further their own particular interests.

🐾 We have some good news 🤩 for clients planning to travel to Northern Ireland with their pets!! 🐾

Starting 4 June 2025, the new Northern Ireland Pet Travel Scheme simplifies the process for pet owners in Great Britain travelling to Northern Ireland.

🐶 What’s New?

The Northern Ireland Pet Travel Scheme offers a simpler way to travel from GB to NI with your animals. Single-use AHCs will no longer be required, but instead replaced by a FREE lifelong Northern Ireland Pet Travel Document:

• Apply online or by phone for a free, lifelong pet travel document for your dog, cat, ferret, or assistance dog.
• Your pet must be microchipped before applying.
• No need for rabies vaccinations or tapeworm treatments when traveling solely between GB and NI.

✈️ Traveling Beyond Northern Ireland?

If you’re heading to the Republic of Ireland or other EU countries, your pet will still need:
• A valid EU pet passport or an Animal Health Certificate (AHC).
• Rabies vaccination and, for dogs, tapeworm treatment.

• REGISTERED VET NURSE
We are looking for a qualified veterinary nurse to join our team in providing exceptional care to our patients. Exact role can be tailored to suit individual applicant, but will involve some reception/admin duties.
