So after yesterday's update, today was back to enjoying classes, positively.💖💖💖

. There is a big furore in the dog training world at the moment. Some trainers are telling people that positive dog trainers are letting dogs down as we (positive trainers) can not deal with difficult/dangerous dogs as our only strategy is food, which, in their view, means that the dog will ultimately have to be put to sleep because it has been allowed to exhibit aggression.

They would argue that, punishment in the form of electric collars, prong collars etc. prevents the dog from doing these behaviours.

I would argue that positive reinforcement is not permissive (think small children, boundaries are needed).

Victoria Stillwell summed it up perfectly for me, I am not prepared to compromise my ethics. Every dog needs to know that they are valued and that their welfare and emotional state will be upheld.

Personally, I will not use abusive methods.
